Liverpool Transfer Rumors, Tabloid lies and Nonsense

My point being is that you put out this wonderful support of a player in form of a quote of his. Then after a report from less than credible sources surfaces you backtrack and put an addendum on it? Not one word has come out of Gerrard's mouth, yet you question his integrity? Seems to me you're a pretty solid fan if you can change your opinion on a player after a few comments from Rick Parry. Nice to see you showing your support for a player.

If you really were a fan of Gerrard's you wouldn't be publicly questioning his support of the football club after you made such a bold attempt to trumpet his loyalties no more than a few months ago. And frankly, IDGAF what the name of the thread is, you shouldn't be continually throwing this s--- on the table for people to read. Your better judgement and common sense should tell you that by buying into this you only open up the door for future speculative nonsense. It'd be different if you had done this once, but as it stands everytime I turn around I have to see you making a big deal out of this. Anyone with any common sense thinks this is crap. You however, keep updating it as if something has changed. Let it go, and if you were a true fan of Gerrard's you would have kept you quote the same and supported him until _HE HIMSELF_ actually said he wanted to leave.

I am very sorry to say this, but when a story like this breaks simultaneously in the Times, Guardian, Independent, and Telegraph (the four biggies) there is undoubtedly more than a small amount of truth in it. We are not talking about the tabloids here--there are no MORE credible sources than the papers I mentioned. This information presented in the articles that came out this morning would almost certainly have been verified by club sources.

 

Just read a report on the BBC site. I don't know what to make of it. Parry is saying that Gerrard is considering his Anfield future. Lampard is talking to him constantly. I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed, adn hope that Stevie G stays put.

 

I am going to give Gerrard the benefit of the doubt that this is a bunch of bull. I am thinking that he has bigger things on his mind, such as Euro's, to deal with right now. I love Gerrard and is my favorite player for the club, but I firmly believe that no player is bigger than the club and if he doesn't want to play for Liverpool he can leave. I will tell you one thing. If he does leave Roman better be trucking quite a few truckloads of Rubles up to Merseyside. I am talking 40 million pounds. Gerrard signed a contract with quite a few years left, we can get close to the 40 million figure. But now we must let the rumors rest and give The Capitan the benifit of the doubt.

 

You admired his quote? Then through no speech of his own, he somehow is less admirable now? Like I said, way to support your captain. Nothing quite like guilty until proven innocent.

 

Now, here's some news that's not really news: Cisse deal to be finalized July 1, Rafa thinks Djbril is "fantastic". Fantastic.

 

Wake up kold krush!!!!. The loyalty thing is a no no. We are all LFC fans and very loyal to our team. At the same time we are not stupid and know there are things going on. The trashy tabloid where these rumours started have given way to serious media outlets and people in the know. We are not dealing with "crap" anymore.
Will SG leave? No one on these boards truly know.
But the fact are facts.
1. Parry has admitted his fears about SGs future. He has stated it will be a battle to keep him. If this is rumour then what could Parry be talking about. Is Sg joining a circus? or possibly joining a cult? FACT
2. Benitez flew all the way to Portugal to meet with SG. Normally this would wait for a week or so but not in this case. We all know Benitez has a million things to do - Why would he go to Portugal? Just to say hi to the boys. I dont think so. FACT
3. Why would Alan Hansen put in the Telegraph that SG will most likely leave? What could Hansen possibly gain by this. Believe it or not but guys like Alan have info that we dont. They are on the inside and know a little more of what is going on. FACT
4. Lampard has admitted that SG is on Roman's wish list and Lampard is talking with SG about a possible move. Dont you think SG would tell him to shut his mouth if these were all rumours. Players dont speculate with each other's business. FACT
5. SG is staying above the frey. But when someone states that he is concentrating on England and not club matters when asked about this, it becomes a little scary.

In summary, the LFC Chief Exec is worried, Coach Benitez has emergency talks, Chelsea player confirms and Ex red states the deal is close.

Now you can call me all the names in the world but if you are not even a little tiny bit worried then your so called loyalty has blinded you from all of this.

Will he leave? What I considered to be "Never" a few weeks ago has turned into "Maybe" (my opinion) I just hope the Anfield brass and Coach can convince him titles and silverware can be had in anfield. We'll see......

 

Good comment. I don't know where the "wants to be thought of as a Keane or Viera came from. But when I think of Keane (And Simione) I think of some dirty gobshyte running around trying to cripple someone. Viera is a hard man who SG is more in the mold of.

And face it, SG is only just coming to his potential, in some of his early matches this last season he quite frankly stunk, spraying long usless balls everywhere.

I love the guy, I hope it's all media hype, all jumping on the same (Well there's nothing else to make up, Becks is still wth posh) bandwaggon. The sporting mans Richard Jewell.


It;s sorta like when I lived in LA in the late '60's. I don't know how many couples I met, were one would work to put the other through college. Then as soon as he or she got their degree and a good paying job, they'd split up....great analogy...

 

I didn't want to pipe up about this, figuring the rumor would die in due time. It won't.

Stevie, for the last couple years, has been hands down my favorite Red of the past decade. Talent, heart, take no bullshit attitude; it's been his name on the back of my last three jerseys. He was the player I dragged my ass over an ocean to see in the flesh. Four weeks ago, (and right now), if he asked me to go lay on a train track, I'd seriosuly think about it.

If he comes back from Portugal and says he's glad the club is making strides forward with the new manager and he's ready to go make a run at the league, I'll still be ready to dive on the tracks for him.

However, make no mistake: If he leaves for the Blues, he can go fuck himself. The club will be fine, unless Parry is an idiot and doesn't get a reasonable value for him. One more sporting hero will have stabbed me in the back. And I will see him in hell.

 

...and they will all play together in a 7-man midfield of Makelele, Geremi, Lamps, Gerrard, and the all too favorable these days "THREE HEADED MONSTER" of a left-wing in Vicenterobbenduff!! Opposing teams will need 4 right backs!! They can play a 2-7-1 with Jose "I am a Champion" Mourinho, himself as lone striker?!

More fuel to the Gerrard fire. I only looked at the headline and top couple paragraphs, and it looks like a rehash of the last few days, but the headline is interesting. Sounds like a different line than "manager flies to Portugal in desparate attempt to keep global superstar".

Benitez is being diplomatic yet firm, I think. I would really, really, hate for SG to go--but Benitez is the new gaffer, and he's got to put his stamp of authoritay on the situation. I have never been able to find out whether SG favored the hiring of Rafa--as I posted on the Rafa el Rojo thread, the Beeb did report that Owen had favored him.

Yes, I know it's almost exactly the same. I said as much. My point was, the headline has changed, and in a very important way. "Benitez: Gerrard not Indispensable" is a MUCH different tone from "Benitez Fights to Keep Gerrard". I think the media seem to be shifting to "he's probably going" rather than "he might go".

 

As an aside to your post, liverbird...

Regarding Morientes' return to Real...I don't see that being a happy situation for him unless he is going to play. Were I him, I wouldn't be happy. But I don't see how they sit either Raul or Ronaldo for him. I know itis a long season with many matches to be played so it is imaginable that Morientes could start upwards of 20 matches and play in another 20 as a sub to spell either raul and/or Ron. And there is always the possibility of injury, etc.

Still doesn't seem like a great situation, if you ask me.
Moro seems to be a player with a question mark looming over his head. He may be a good one to pair with Cisse should Owen not stick around. He's not fast but he is crafty and good in the air and, of course, plays well with others.

 

If Gerrard moves to Chelsea, is there a chance that Liverpool is after Rosicky or are they looking somewhere else (Baraja etc.)? From a BVB point of view they would sell him if an offer close to or above 20 Mio Euro comes in, I guess.
