Yea, it may be a little early to start this. Obviously certain players for both teams have a whole week to get fit, but any news on players that will be out, in, doubtful, probable, etc??

    Fowler??

    Babbel??

Fowler still hasn't made the bench, and Venables started McPhail over Viduka against Villa, so he's not fully recovered.

  4. We've scored 2, 3 and 4 goals in the last 3 games at Elland Road which shows we haven't had too much trouble scoring there in recent history.

What do you reckon... a hat-trick to Emile Heskey anyone?? :D

    Go Reds!!

Today's news indicates Emile has a groin injury and will not play for England, hopes to be fit for Leeds. Also, Chris Kirkland left a winning England U-21 match with a lower back strain --- prognosis unknown.

Fowler is still recovering from hip surgery, I believe.
He's not made the bench this season due to fitness, not the manager.

Stevie G definitely out for this one. Heskey and Kirkland in doubt as well as of Thursday's Sky Sports News

    Berger out of Leeds trip

Patrik Berger has been ruled out of the trip to Leeds due to a groin strain but Emile Heskey could play.

Heskey missed the England game against Macedonia on Wednesday due to a groin strain but Gerard Houllier is hopeful the striker could play.

Houllier said: "We will make a decision on Emile tomorrow. There is a chance he can play but I won't be taking any risks with him as we have a big schedule of games coming up."

Vladimir Smicer returns to the squad for the trip to Leeds after recovering from a foot problem. The Czech international played just over an hour for the reserves at Aston Villa midweek and could be on the bench.

Definite non starters at Elland Road are Steven Gerrard (hip), Stephane Henchoz (calf), Abel Xavier (virus) and Chris Kirkland (back). Pegguy Arphexad will provide back up to Jerzy Dudek at Leeds.

On another thread, kopiteinkc listed a starting XI
that I think is the right one for Saturday. So with credit to him, I'll post it here as well:

    .................Dudek

    Carragher--Hyypia--Traore--Riise

    Murphy--Hamann--Diao--Cheyrou

    .............Baros--Owen

If Heskey passes the late fitness test, then he would play left-sided midfielder, and Cheyrou would go into the middle in place of Diao.
