Why does ownership not understand this particular fan base yet?? Consult them first - give them a say - and they will find common ground.
Turns out next season will be a 3% increase since they are already in the renewal period. After that it will be frozen at least for a season - well until they realize we need the money to buy out Slots contract.
If he's ok, he'll make it to year end and go on his way. If he's bad, it's maybe 2.5m to buyout him out at Christmas.
They did raise it with the various groups. But it was more, “here’s what we’ve decided” rather than “here’s what we’re thinking, do you have any suggestions?” The second time I can remember, (maybe there have been more?), that a rise was announced and withdrawn or downgraded. Over the years I’m definitely an FSG in! type and I think they have been superb for our club. Especially when you compare them to other owners. Sure, there’re more than a few things they could do differently and better, but, by and large, name me better owners of a top 2-3 club? But. But, I’m also not so naive to swallow this whole either. I’m definitely not saying that the following is the case, but it’s very plausible and I might have even recommended such a strategy to a client or two. (Not saying I did. Or didn’t). The masses are unhappy, revolting even. Slot is not cutting it, but, f.uck youse all, he is staying and we’re not listening to you. Then again, we can’t be seen to be unfeeling owners who don’t care what the fans say. Why not raise ticket prices? And then back down? And show we listen? And glide into the off season with Slot at the helm while we steal space and time to investigate Slot at our pace? Thank you.
OK, what am I missing in all this? Why is it in FSG's best interests to keep Slot around when its pretty flaming clear he's a good guy but clearly not up to what we need done? The fans are revolting, we're getting increasing evidence of player disenchantment, what is to be gained by extending this other than buying time until the right replacement is available? Maybe I just answered my own question...
Someone was floating around the idea of Elon Musk ownership a couple years back. I really don;t want to go to prison for murder.....
I don't like this part: "Londoner Bhatia, 46, was awarded the young entrepreneur of the year award in 2013, and sits on the advisory board of the Saudi Arabian government's cultural affairs and international relations unit." https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c1j1081dyn1o
That's a big % ... Liverpool owner FSG in talks to sell 30% stake to Amit Bhatia consortium for £1.35bn https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2...-in-talks-sell-stake-qpr-co-owner-amit-bhatia
Who f.ucked up QPR really badly. Hmmmm… Friend of mine who was doing business with QPR when he was calling the shots says chaos was a kind, nice way to describe things. Keep him as far the f.uck from our club as possible.
Now Bezos is in talks to join that group. I can only think of two other people that would be more antithetical to the values of the club.
Aggggghhh God no!!!!~ https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...eff-bezos-consortium-stake-liverpool-football Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has held talks about joining the consortium that is seeking to buy around 30% of Liverpool. The group led by former Queens Park Rangers co‑owner Amit Bhatia has made a provisional offer of £1.35bn to buy a stake from Fenway Sports Group (FSG), and is talking to other potential investors over supplying funding. Bezos has a personal fortune of around $257bn according to Forbes, making him the fourth richest person in the world. The 62-year-old has previously explored bids for NFL franchises Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders without completing a deal, but has never before looked at investing in the Premier League. Sources with knowledge of the talks have indicated that any deal with Bhatia’s consortium would see Bezos receive equity in Liverpool.
It’s like awful billionaires (oxymoron it seems) are all getting together and saying which fan base is the opposite of our values - let’s go try to buy them.
This is not going to go well. They clearly don't understand the club they have bought a share in. But this could go really badly. I am just praying that they are taking the money and giving them no power with no intention of ever giving them power. But this is how a lot of sales takes place nowadays, and we know FSG were looking to cash out a few years ago.
Bezos should invest in the city, not LFC. Put an Amazon location there, add more tech job opportunities.
