From June 13 to June 15, Anfield will transform into a mecca for ‘Swifties,’ as 150,000 fans are expected to attend the three-night concert series. This marks Swift’s inaugural visit to England with her landmark Eras tour, which has already spanned five continents. Additional UK dates are lined up for Edinburgh, Cardiff, and London, amplifying the excitement. The influx of fans to Liverpool is anticipated to deliver a substantial economic boost. Hosting the concert at Anfield will also enhance Liverpool FC’s revenue. According to the Barclays “Swiftonomics” report, the UK economy could gain an impressive £997 million from Taylor Swift’s concerts. Anfield is no stranger to hosting monumental gigs. Liverpool City Council approved the venue for concerts in 2018, leading to performances by Take That, Bon Jovi, and Pink in 2019. In 2022, the stadium saw legendary acts like The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, and Elton John grace its stage. Although no concerts were held last year due to stadium redevelopment, Pink is set to return later this summer. However, it is Taylor Swift’s dates that have truly captivated the city.
Not buying Bordeaux anymore. Due diligence seems to have turned up that it's not worth it - especially because Bordeaux don't own their own stadium.
due diligence? not owning a stadium isn't something you can simply hide is it? bbc: Bordeaux said FSG cited future maintenance costs of the stadium. anyhow, bullet dodge by the look of it.
Liverpool have issued an apology after frustrated supporters voiced their anger at the failure of the club's ticketing system. Tickets went on sale on Wednesday morning for home Premier League games in the first half of the season - up to and including the Boxing Day visit of Leicester City - to members who had attended 13 or more league games at Anfield last term. However, supporters were soon reporting technical issues, prompting the club to initially suspend the sale until 11am before announcing there would be an indefinite wait due to the problem. That prompted a wave of anger from fans on social media who are now waiting to discover when the ticket sale, which guarantees seats for those who qualify, will take place. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo...rpool-issue-apology-supporters-after-29558856
I still believe - but I don’t know the Bundesliga ownership rules - that Shalke 04 would be a good investment for FSG. The investment doesn’t seem extraordinary for historically one of the largest clubs in Germany - if not Europe.
Apparently they are hated by all the German teams / fans for this reason as they are flouting the rules somehow.
I thought it was more about changing the team name, colors, branding etc… along being foreign owned. FSG can point to their history of success while maintaining the clubs values. May not ultimately be possible and there is the fan ownership model to consider.
After accepting relegation to the third tier of French football, Bordeaux, the country's sixth most successful club side ever, will not renew its professional license, according to reports. That means the club will run on a semi-professional model and French outlets Sud Quest Girodins and L'Equipe report the contracts of all players will be terminated and the club's training centre will shut because of how bad the financial trouble is. Despite finishing 12th in Ligue 2 in the 2023/24 season, Bordeaux were administratively relegated to the semi-professional Championnat National because of the club's financial troubles. Bordeaux had appealed this decision to the Direction Nationale du Controle de Gestion (DNCG, the body responsible for overseeing the finances of French football clubs). There was hope talk of a takeover from Liverpool's Fenway Sports Group (FSG) could save them from relegation but it's reported FSG pulled out and therefore Bordeaux retracted its appeal.
Too bad really, I'm sure anyone who played there would have made a fine red... I'll get my coat on the way out...
Ah no! I think you should stay, you’re great fun. Interestingly, surfing around earlier. Came across rather annoying news about Bordeaux. Barcelona (bear with me) are trying to sign Olmo and Nico Williams. Good luck to them. But they owe Bordeaux €10m for Malcolm for the last 6 years. Still outstanding. Not saying €10m saves Bordeaux and I know how transfer deals can be structured years out in advance, but this just seems wrong to me.
Liverpool's five-year stint with Nike as their kit supplier is nearing an end with the Reds agreeing a new deal for the 2025-26 campaign. After a 13-year hiatus, Liverpool are set to have Adidas as their new kit supplier with deals reportedly already signed according to Footy Headlines. There is no confirmation yet on when an announcement of the reunion will take place but going off Nike's revealing in 2020/21, we could see the deal be made public at the start of next year. Liverpool's current deal with Nike is set to run out at the end of the current 2024/25 campaign with the Anfield side not set to renew their contract, favouring a switch to Adidas instead. The new Adidas Liverpool deal is expected to run for five seasons, up until the 2029-30 campaign. The new deal will likely be worth more than what Nike currently pays Liverpool*(£30m per year + 20% royalty on all net merchandise sales other than footwear). ------------------ * I've seen the value estimated as £900m
Well, hopefully Adidas puts even the most minimal effort in getting us decently designed kits because most of Nike's are head scratchers.
I love Nike's stuff and tend to hate adidas. So this is too bad for me. But I'm not a huge kit-buyer. Just one here or there. The Nike anniversary kit was amazing, the cream-colored, Mo v United hat-trick 3rd (or was it away) kit is one of the best Liverpool kits in years and years, last season's home was amazing, and both this season's away & 3rd are also great. So Nike to me more than justifies their contract. But they do have some head scratchers in them, no doubt there. I think most companies do, design-wise.
Think there's a lot of good in here over course of Nike deal: https://www.footballkitarchive.com/liverpool-fc-kits/ I was wrong it was a few seasons ago, the 21-22 home is fantastic. Along with the away which is the Mo hat trick game, which is my favorite LFC kit in a looooong time. The purple 3rd I also like. Forest green 22-23 very nice. And 20-21 home, the bright red with bright green/white highlights, I love that kit! Got a lot of good ones in there. It strikes me as odd Nike doesn't want to re-up. Wonder why that would be.
