This is the time for players to stop talking about what they need to do and actually do it-- start winning some bloody matches.
Lots of Everton fans have been left bemoaning the loss of Yerry Mina as Carlo Ancelotti expects him to miss the Liverpool game on Saturday evening. The former FC Barcelona ace picked up an injury in the Merseyside club’s 3-1 loss to Manchester City in the Premier League at Goodison Park, and the Italian boss does not think that he will be available to play against Jurgen Klopp’s men at Anfield. However, the Italian revealed great news for Everton fans – top goalscorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin will start against Klopp’s side. He said: “Calvert-Lewin, I think, can start.” Another injury boost is the likelihood of Allan returning to the side, with Ancelotti hopeful the influential Brazilian midfielder will be fit enough to start.
Need to bypass the “go in hard” on Prickford attitude and just slam a few goals passed him. Expect the ref to have an eye out for anything that might be considered “revenge” in any and every tackle. We don’t need any red cards! (Unless they’re given to the boys in blue)
Indeed. In fact, I'm willing to bet that the referee will be looking to penalise each and every infraction by a Liverpool player.
Jurgen Klopp dispelled rumours of a fresh injury blow for Alisson Becker as he revealed news of a fitness setback for Naby Keita. Alisson's absence from photographs of the Reds' preparations for Saturday's meeting with Everton at Anfield had sparked suggestions that he could be sidelined. However, Klopp was quick to pour cold water on such speculation at his press conference previewing the game, simply saying: "He is fine." Keita, meanwhile, missed the midweek trip to Budapest to face RB Leipzig in order to take part in training sessions aimed at getting him back up to speed after overcoming. But Klopp explained that the Guinean was in fact unable to get through that work due to illness, and may not be able to take his place in the squad this weekend as a result. edit: Millie and Fab both ruled out.
Just saw the highlight of Man City's 3-1 win over Everton - all three goal were scored from shots (nearly) outside the penalty box...Foden's was just inside... Some body tell the boys!
I've never seen any stats on this, but if you told me we shoot from distance less than all - or virtually all - other Prem teams. I would 100% believe it.
Looks really windy at Anfield today. It’s no less windy inside either pic.twitter.com/4cY8a0LlrK— Carl Markham (@carlmarkham) February 20, 2021
Same eleven that started v Leipzig start today. Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Kabak, Henderson, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Jones, Thiago, Mane, Salah, Firmino. Subs: Adrian, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Tsimikas, Shaqiri, Origi, Davies, Phillips, N. Williams.
Two keys to the game in my opinion, stop unnecessary fouls around our box and the fullbacks need to limit their ability to cross. If we do these, then we will win this game.
