    Early season tough games done...

    @ Chelsea (W)
    vs Arsenal (W)
@ Everton (D, because we were robbed)
    @ Citeh (D)
    vs Leicester (W)

You can't argue with that record. Similarly, Chelsea have only played us and Manure. Tottenham have played Everton, Manure and Citeh.

Great performance by the players. And the manager got the tactics spot on. .

In the 90 seconds between Milner taking the initial throw-in and Jota applying the finish, all 10 outfield Liverpool players had touched the ball at least once, with 30 passes completed in the move – the longest consecutive passing sequence leading to a Liverpool goal in the Premier League since Opta began collecting such data 14 years ago.

For all Liverpool are renowned for their electrifying speed in transition under Jürgen Klopp, it still goes under the radar just how phenomenal a pass-and-move side they've become – and this supreme passage of play was prime evidence as such. It's a necessity, too, because as teams have learned to defend ever deeper and more compactly against Liverpool over the past few years, they've had to evolve to find new ways of slicing open a low block when space is at a premium.

    a blow-by-blow description.

The day after the nigh and it’s amazing how little threat Leicester posed or, maybe, how Liverpool nullified it without letting up in our own relentlessness.

I was fretting about the missed chances as it seemed to me that Rodgers was employing exactly the same tactics which saw him turn over Man City and Arsenal. Hah! The real wonder is why we didn’t score more.

The standing-ins, if one can still call them that, were utterly brilliant. I thought Jones, fluffed first-half chance aside, combined well with Wijnaldum and Keita to impose our game on Leicester. And Becker when called upon was also excellent.

    Next and don’t let up!

    Poor Naby...

Other than that, very good performance. Fabinho was a rock there, nice to see him kind of be the VVD lite that could hold this together for the time being. Will be nice to get the likes of Mo, Thiago, & Hendo back.

If you compare it to last season we are doing well. A draw at Goodison is the same result as last year. A draw at City is a better result than last year. The Villa result is obviously worse than last season.

We were lucky that we got Thiago signed. I didn't think that was going to happen as he has been one of my fav players for about 5 years, and I would have thought he was worth a minimum of double what we paid. But that extra top class midfielder allows for Fabinho to replace Virgil without too much strain on the midfield plan.. Also the emergence of Curtis Jones is a big boost. And the primary forward addition of Diogo Jota gives us the ability to field a killer side when one of the front three is out....
Other than Virg and Joe, the injuries should start to clear up soon.
Hopefully (fingers crossed) we won;t get hit by too many Co-vid isolation(s) of players during the heavy December period.....

Will likely see a lot of rotation for Atalanta:

    Allisson/Adrian

    Williams ... Williams ... Fabinho/Matip ... Tsimikas

    Jones ... Wijnaldum ... Milner

    Salah ... Minamino ... Origi

45 mins each for Matip and Fabinho.

Wijnaldum/Milner could be rested if we have any other MF options available - Henderson?

Or we go to 4-2-3-1 to give the MF a break:

    Allisson/Adrian

    Williams ... Williams ... Fabinho/Matip ... Tsimikas

    Jones ... Wijnaldum/Milner

    Salah ... Minamino ... Jota

    Origi

And now the hard work starts— teams will have realised that a Liverpool side ravaged by injuries is still a Liverpool side and has to be taken seriously.

We’re still going to have to earn our points the hard way.
