We need to sack these slow starts. I’ve read somewhere that of the last 9 matches we have played, we’ve conceded first 7 times, 5 of them within the first 15 minutes. Glad that Klopp himself mentioned this as the "absolutely wrong way" to start against Fulham. So, stop waiting for the opponent to score first. That and converting chances that come our way. And, as underserved as win would have been, we created the better scoring opportunities against Fulham. 3 points and back on track.
has Keita been training since he got ill? I'm losing track. last season we won this 3-0 (Mane, Mo, and a Keita beauty) but it was one hell of a tough game, they had a number of good chances. Konate's debut, and Millie was MOTM - at RB for an ill TAA.
feels that way doesn't it? if we don't win the internet will likely melt. there are people (not you, burning) who bang on about having to be "perfect over 38 games" to beat City to the tiltle ... which is dumb obviously, but the sentiment is out there.
that's because there are some really really really dumb "supporters" out there. i continue to believe all you need to do is read ESPN, Facebook, or twitter comments to show you how many dumb people there really are. "We should have got Holland!!" "Fire Klop" "Spurs is gonna win the title"
I just don’t know what to say, I’m still wondering which team we watched last Sat. I think Darwin needs a start, his energy might help us “start on the front foot” (as they like to say) Not picking on Diaz especially but I don’t think he’s shown full potential yet. The rest just need to pull up their knickers and stop thinking teams are going to lay down for them. other than that. Score first. Score Early Score often.
That gets us to half time when our 3 midfielders will have to be withdrawn due to injury. What’s your 2nd half team look like?
Jurgen Klopp on the benefit of playing Crystal Palace in the evening on Monday: "It is much better to play at night time [cooler] but it's the same for Crystal Palace. It should not be a comfortable game at all." On Harvey Elliott's chances of starting against Palace: "Yes he is a fantastic boy and a super player. He had a good pre season and is always in contention to start." To mark 30 years of the Premier League, Klopp says his favourite memory was: "When we didn't even play. It was when Willian scored the penalty for Chelsea against City [to hand Liverpool the title in 20120]. It was a mix of everything, the situation before it was a chance for Chelsea to shoot and everyone called for a handball. "Then the whistle came and it was the first celebration. We always analyse and watch the games to learn but it was completely different in that moment. I was hoping it would be a penalty and Willian would keep his nerve." On Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez's relationship in attack, Jurgen Klopp said: "It is a good partnership. They are two players who are determined to score and be in the decisive areas. "Mo is in a really good moment and Darwin is settling in. Luis [Diaz] missed the goal but had really good moments [against Fulham]. If he had scored it would help him massively as well but this department was not our problem last weekend." On Liverpool's opening day draw at newly-promoted Fulham, Jurgen Klopp said: "We had a slow start. I didn't like it at all. I saw the attitude to fight back but that is a different thing. It is better you have a lively start in a football game than not. The first pass we go to the full-back and the next one gets blocked by the winger. It took too long. "We did not play a good game and still could have scored more goals. We had our moments in the second half but we try to make sure we are ready for this game. We are more often ready than not. Having a slow start does not mean you will do it again but it is a sign so use it as information and go from there."
Good as young Harvey is. Is he strong enough for the Prem yet? Another lightweight is Diaz but he’s learnt how to play bigger guys.
