We never really opened them up in the second half did we. Chelsea will be happier than us with the draw.
I felt the left side attacking was poor and wasteful the whole game. Salah was pretty pedestrian on his side. Real shame Chelsea wasn't humbled some points.
Frustrating match, but credit is due to Chelsea for their organization and keeping us honest on the counter. We still struggle when teams park the bus, but it's what Klopp likely would have done had we been down to 10.
That's a very harsh law then .Definitely a pen but I'd be absolutely livid if that was called a red against one of our guys.
Each season they tinker more and more with the rules and interpretations. I think by now just about every Prem manager has said they no longer understand the laws or what approach is being taken. In this case it's a straight red. So does that mean he misses 3 games?
Against 10 men every team I've ever seen does the exact opposite of what"s needed. Instead of moving the ball as fast as possible and tire the oppo out, they lose all urgency and give the defence all the time they need to mark men and cover holes. Drives me nuts.
Harvey is a season away from the senior England team imo. What a player. The only thing I heard Lee Dixon say that made any sense was comparing him to young Messi.
Two points dropped, I’d say. Funnily enough, I reckon we’d have won had it been 11v 11. I’d be miffed if I were Keita, Tsimikas and Jota for not starting but I can sort of understand Klopp’s thinking. When Chelsea went down to 10 men, however, we had to change our approach but we kept doing the same things but this time a lot more slowly. And we’re still wasteful in front of goal. Many players had a poor game. As for corners, the less said the better. Well, let’s hope there are not any injuries during the break and Klopp has enough time to think up a genuine plan B.
Still think it would be nice to have another option up front, especially in games like this where we're just not clicking around the goal.
The lad did really well today . At times it looked like he had the ball on a string and everything was going through him. He's a pretty impressive 18 yr old.
oh please do not start the plan B nonsense again. We have a variety of approaches to any given match. We have won a Premier League and a Champions League with Klopp as manager and we have not simply employed one tactical setup during his time here. Even in games we make tweaks all the time. This time they had Fabinho much further forward, hoping to get him a little space to uncork one of his lasers. That was ONE option. We saw crosses from out wide. We saw fullbacks running with the ball. We saw central midfielders running with the ball. We saw passes to forwards with their back to the goal and either a turn or an attempt to play 1-2. They tried all kinds of things, we just didn't get through.
Maybe different players? Look, this is early season and reading too much in the first three matches is a fool’s errand but we didn’t adjust well to the ten men. We’ll probably clinch all three at Stamford Bridge.
I agree we can win there. Thiago for Hendo was that kind of sub. I think he stood on the touchline waiting for a whistle for nearly 10 minutes, so he could have been on a bit earlier. I'm feeling very good about this team right now. Long season and all that, but I really like our chances to win the league again.
