Why do I get the feeling its going to be a comfortable 3 - 0 rout!!!!! Atletico are shit this Season and if we don't freeze and play to our potential we should comfortably see it out even if we need to score 3. YNWA.
They drew 2-2 with Sevilla at home yesterday. Heard a supposed Spanish football expert (didn’t catch the name) on the BBC this morning who basically said that the Liverpool game was probably Atletico’s best this season and he didn’t expect them to play so well or Liverpool to play so badly in the return leg. The subtext being that he thought Liverpool should do it, assuming they play well.
How many times has the CL come down to us needing a win and goals “At Anfield” ??? How many times have we pulled it off ?
A cautionary tale from the past. https://www.thisisanfield.com/2020/...nd-a-cautionary-tale-for-liverpool-vs-atleti/
I hope so, too, but I feel that it will be a nerve-wracking finish. What else does this team engender amongst its fanbase?
Guess this is how they're feeling in Spain Think Diario AS might have gotten a bit carried away with this Gulliver's Travels-inspired "taking down the giant" photomontage on today's frontpage pic.twitter.com/vSom5ztaOQ— The Spanish Football Podcast (@tsf_podcast) March 11, 2020
Lol - I remember when Real came here after the first leg (we had a lead though) - and said "What's the big deal about Anfied" or something like that .... then got thumped 4-0. Different times and teams of course - Atletico drew us in 2010 in the semi's at Anfield with a late goal to go through - but that was a weaker Liverpool team in a season mired in chaos. Let's do this!
Running on emotions. That’s all they have, that’s what they’re trying to ride on. An early goal will shut them down
I think it’s insane that nothing was done to stop 3,000 fans from traveling from Madrid to Liverpool for this match. Everything is currently shut down in Madrid and no matches are even being played in their own stadiums. This is how this thing spreads. I must say, that my excitement for this game has taken a major hit with all that’s going on. There is a good chance it’s all for nothing if the rest of the Champions League is cancelled anyway.
Adrian, AA, Gomez, VVD, Robertson, Hendo, Ox, Wij, Mane, Salah, Firmino Fab, Milner, Minamino, Lallana, Origi, Matip (No Keita who was available on Saturday - there goes my lockpicker theory)
Fabinho pays the price for less than stellar form since his return. And also Minamino or Lallana for Keita on the bench. Maybe he’s re-injured or Klopp is still not ready to trust him.
I like that line up... Score early to set the tone, Score often... Lock the back gate...no goals allowed
No injury apparently. 2 senior players were always going to miss out on the bench. It was Keita and Lovren. Klopp has Lallana if he needs an attacking midfield option. Milner and Fabinho for multiple scenarios. Origi if he needs a forward and Minamino if he needs to mix things up.
Klopp mentioned needing to be unpredictable and show them something different. Could go 4-2-3-1 with Salah through the middle and Ox on the right.
