Manchester United and Liverpool 'will go head-to-head in a pre-season friendly in Thailand in July', with Premier League rivals set to embark on their first money-spinning overseas tours in three years due to the Covid pandemic. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...d-head-pre-season-friendly-Thailand-July.html
Might as well put this here. We’re playing United in Thailand in the off-season. The game is almost sold out. The ticket prices are higher than if (when ) we get to the CL Final. In fairness to FSG (and United), we’re only being paid a flat appearance fee, not a percentage of the ticket sales. Still, more expensive than the CL Final?
Liverpool fans in Singapore, mark 15 July on your calendar as the date when the English Premier League (EPL) giants will make their long-awaited return to the city-state. The Merseyside club announced on Tuesday (25 April) that their senior squad will be facing FA Cup semi-finalists Crystal Palace at the National Stadium in the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy pre-season tournament on 15 July, three days after facing Manchester United in another pre-season tie in Bangkok. There will also be a ticketed open training session at the National Stadium on 14 July.
Pre-season tours are back next month, with Liverpool and Manchester United bringing a taste of north-west England to south-east Asia. “For this part of the world, these are the two single biggest football clubs – we couldn’t get anything bigger,” Marcus Luer, the CEO of Total Sports Asia, who brokered the deal to bring the teams to Thailand, says. “This is the biggest match ever in Asia – the revenue will be the highest in Asia.” --------------- The cheapest tickets at the 51,000-capacity venue are 5,000 baht (£115), about 60 times more than fans pay to get into Thai Premier League matches, and most cost considerably more. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...angkok-big-cost-too-expensive-some-local-fans
Liverpool have added a clash with Red Bull Salzburg to their list of pre-season fixtures for next month. The Reds will face the Austrian side on Wednesday July 27 at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg, with kick-off 7pm BST.
Players retuning for Pre Season training on July 4th: Adrian, Carvalho, Davies, Diaz, Elliott, Firmino, Gomez, Henderson, Kelleher, Konate, Matip, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Phillips, Ramsay, Thiago, N. Williams, R. Williams, Van den Berg. The rest of the squad will join the initial 19 later on in the week as they have been granted extra time off due to international commitments over the summer.
Liverpool are set to take on Kidderminster Harriers in a pre-season friendly on July 22nd. The Reds will travel to Worcestershire in one of their final matches before facing Manchester City in the Community Shield just eight days later.
Stefan Bajcetic has travelled with Liverpool’s squad to Bangkok. He's a 17yr old holding mid and another one of these very promising youngsters coming thru the Academy.
Tour squad: Adrian, Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Bajcetic, Carvalho, Chambers, Clark, Clarkson, H. Davies, Diaz, Elliott, Fabinho, Firmino, Frauendorf, Gomez, Henderson, Hill, Jones, Jota, Keita, Konate, Mabaya, Matip, Milner, Morton, Mrozek, Norris, Nunez, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Phillips, Robertson, Salah, Thiago, Tsimikas, Van den Berg, Van Dijk, R. Williams.
The notable omissions are Kelleher, Ramsey, and Kaide Gordon. Seems like all of them are dealing with minor injuries. Thats disappointing because Gordon was one of the players I was most looking forward to seeing.
If all the players who travelled are available to play, Klopp can easily play two completely different teams in each half without using any of the kids. For example, first half: Alisson Trent Matip Gomez Tsmikas Fabinho Elliott Thiago Salah Nunez Diaz 2nd half: Adrian Milner Konate Virgil Robertson Henderson Jones Keita Carvalho Firmino Jota That’s without using Oxlade-Chamberlain.
