Liverpool have confirmed the signing of striker Will Wright from Salford City, with the new arrival debuting days after his £200,000 transfer went through. A deal was agreed between Liverpool and League Two side Salford City earlier this week, allowing Wright to undergo and pass a medical. This Is Anfield understands the transfer is worth upwards of £200,000 and saw the Premier League champions beat Arsenal to his signing despite the London club offering a higher transfer fee and wages. Wright was convinced to join Liverpool not only as it allowed him and his family to remain in the northwest, but also for the footballing opportunities it presented. The 17-year-old’s transfer was not formally announced, which is typical of youth signings, but he went straight into Rob Page’s U21s squad. Nyoni for England Under 19’s. I think this kid is a star. Trey Nyoni vs Spain u19Incredible Midfield performance 🪄 pic.twitter.com/gxlDW4chyy— A (@Bygecko1) September 6, 2025
He just needs to fill out a little bit more. Has a lot of tools. That said - odd set of highlights they put together. Didn't seem like anything "wow" - but I'm glad they got a few clips of his forward passing which was quite good. Surprised Spain didn't press a hell of a lot more - there were many clips where he had so much time on the ball - would never happen at the senior level.
I watched the Liverpool U21’s play a couple weeks ago and Nyoni was so many levels above everyone else.
Probably mostly hype, but there's always hope! Liverpool have the best 15-year-old in world football who is the NEXT Lamine Yamal

Must be so frustrating for the guy. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping this one is just a mild strain.
Should know soon but my guess is he was told to stop as soon as he felt anything slightly wrong - so maybe will turn out precautionary only. God, I hope so.
At least one of our teams is doing well! Liverpool fans still have three reasons to smile ahead of the March international break
Does anyone follow the youth teams enough to give an opinion on who the most likely young player(s) to break through? This season it's been Rio and Nyoni with some cameo bench appearances by Ramsay. I seem to recall reading that there's been some non-trivial injuries this year (Danns, Gordon IIRC) but I haven't kept track.
yep. as is Danns (injured) and Kaide. I just dunno how close any of them are to pushing into the squad at this point.
I'm not sure any of the kids are knocking on the door of the first team squad but there are some good prospects. Will Wright as noted above. Keiran Morrison , the Hungarian keeper Pesci. We also signed 3 highly rated young cb's but I doubt any are close yet . Perhaps Senegalese lad Mor Talla Ndiaye is the most developed.
Yeah other than Rio we saw little youth progression. Nyoni needs to be playing more .If we sign Diamande and use Jacquet and Leoni we're going to have a very young group of players.
Any updates on that Joshua Abe kid? Was supposed to be quite electric. Friend of mind watched him in a youth game last year. He wouldn;t be old enough to be being loaned yet? NO?
there is a battle over him - Chelsea and City want to steal him away from us. Chelski wants revenge for Rio.
Why are we battling with a kid. Just give him some basic terms at that age. Tie him down for a few years until we know what we have for sure
