I wonder how much of an impact this made on the lad's thinking? Liverpool's recent track of blooding players from their academy ranks into the first-team is understood to have been key to the decision over the move with the 2024 Carabao Cup final cited as the perfect example of the two contrasting strategies at both clubs. Liverpool won the game at Wembley 1-0 thanks to Virgil van Dijk's extra-time header but finished the match with James McConnell, Bobby Clark and Jayden Danns all on the pitch and they were also able to name Caoimhin Kelleher, Jarell Quansah, Conor Bradley and Harvey Elliott in the team on the day, four players who all sharpened their skills in the youth ranks at Anfield. Both Quansah and Bradley have emerged as first-team options for the long term based on the back of them grasping their respective chances last season, while the likes of Kaide Gordon, Ben Doak and Lewis Koumas all earned senior minutes as Trey Nyoni became the youngest player to feature for the Reds in an FA Cup tie, aged 16 years and 243 days. In contrast, Chelsea have signed over 30 players since the summer of 2022 with owner Todd Boehly and his Clearlake Capital consortium committing over £1billion on transfer incomings since taking over from Roman Abramovich two years ago. Such an eye-watering outlay has inevitably had an impact on the ability of Chelsea's teenage talents to stake their claim but the club's willingness to invest huge sums for players in a similar age range from around the world has also been an issue.

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo...iverpool-youngsters-twice-walk-pitch-29581499 Liverpool have called for an investigation after their under-18 side twice walked off the pitch in protest at alleged racist abuse towards one of their players during a pre-season youth tournament in Germany. A young Reds team helmed by U18s boss Marc Bridge-Wilkinson have been taking part in the Bundesliga Cup competition in the city of Schwabisch Hall this weekend. Liverpool faced Hoffenheim U19s in their opening game on Friday but left the field in protest after one of their players said he was the target of a racist comment from an opponent. Onlookers said the player affected was visibly upset at the incident which halted a game the Reds ultimately went on to lose 6-0. Then on Saturday, Liverpool were drawing 1-1 with Eintracht Frankfurt U19s when the same Reds youngster complained of similar abuse from a Frankfurt player, prompting the Reds to once again walk off in protest. The competition organisers eventually awarded Frankfurt a 3-0 victory. Liverpool have now called on Hoffenheim, Eintracht Frankfurt and the competition organisers to investigate the incident.

Some penalty from Josh Sonni-Lambie against Arsenal today. Leads the scoring for LFC U18 so far after a productive pre-season in front of goal as well. Arsenal won 5-3 with plenty of talent on show. pic.twitter.com/2wsfl19Jkl— Lewis Bower (@LewisBower2021) August 28, 2024
Liverpool have completed deal for 16-year-old talent Alvin Ayman to join the Academy from Wolves. 5 year deal, £2m compensation fee and Premier League’s 5 step approval now completed.
Been a tough start for our u18s/21s but there is some football to look forward to tonight as our u21s take on Sunderland u21s. Hopefully get to see Nyoni play a part, as well as our 2 new signings. https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/655pm-bst-live-u21s-football-watch-sunderland-v-liverpool-0
Hopefully we get to see Nyoni play a part, Kone Doherty back and Morisson on either flanks will be good. Ayman and Ngumoha now both cleared to play, neither featured in the 2-0 loss to Utd on the weekend so hopefully we can see what they're about tonight.
Rio has arrived John Terry powerless and Chelsea crestfallen as Liverpool plan for Rio Ngumoha comes together - Liverpool Echo
The Carabao Cup Final continues to pay dividends. I always thought it would. The trophy would not have been won without the kids and Inglethorpe and his scouting team can always point to Wembley as evidence of a genuine path to the first team. Whereas with Chelsea, they can hardly even point to Cobham as a destination.
By all accounts this kid's potential is massive . Looks like a big lad for 16 Rio Ngumoha has gone straight into training with Liverpool’s U21s. pic.twitter.com/rfb3G9sgZY— Watch LFC (@Watch_LFC) September 5, 2024
Only just turned 16 last week too apparently, look forward to seeing him play in the u21s when I get the chance to watch.
He looks fearless, then again so too did Jordon Ibe and Sheyi Ojo. JT seems to think he'll become a top player and he was working at Chelsea's academy last season so would probably know plenty about him.
