16 year old Kaide Gordon came off the bench to score on his debut for the U23's in 2-0 win over Leicester. Ben Woodburn with the other goal.

Liverpool U18s suffered FA Youth Cup heartbreak as they were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa in Monday night's final.

Villa raced into a two-goal lead within 12 minutes thanks to Ben Chrisene and Brad Young, and went on to keep the Reds at arm’s length for much of the prestigious competition’s showpiece.

Mateusz Musialowski and Max Woltman had opportunities to bring Liverpool back into the tie, while the home side twice struck the woodwork. Substitute Melkamu Frauendorf set up a fascinating finale when his volley was diverted into the net by Seb Revan with 17 minutes remaining.

But Villa’s opening salvo proved enough to clinch the trophy as Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s team fell at the last hurdle after an excellent run in the tournament this season.

Good name for a striker :)

Oakley Cannonier scored a hat-trick as Liverpool under-18s continued their preparations for the season with a 3-0 friendly win over Chester City.

I saw some of the U23s were sent home to Kirkby from first team training camp to make way for the later-arriving Bobby, Ali and Fab. This was in Pep Ljinders' diary on the official site, but it didn't say which players. Still would be an epic experience to train abroad with the first team for 20 days.

Oakley Cannonier scored a hat-trick to make it five goals in two games to start the season, as the Liverpool under-18s sealed a 5-0 victory over rivals Man United.
After an injury-hit season that saw him make only eight appearances for the academy last time out, Cannonier has begun the new campaign as a first-choice starter in red-hot form.

A professional contract in July was followed by a productive pre-season and a brace in the 5-3 opening win over Stoke, with Marc Bridge-Wilkinson keeping him in the side for the trip to United despite the return of Mateusz Musialowski.

Musialowski, who started the under-23s’ opener against Man City, played a supporting role to Liverpool‘s most famous ball boy, with Cannonier capping a five-goal thrashing of United with a hat-trick. His first goal came in the 11th minute, finding space to tap in a cross from stand-in right-back Terence Miles, with Liverpool then required to hold firm as United began to attack.

It was Reds midfielder Luca Stephenson – set to step up as a key player in the academy this term – who got the next goal, though, with a volley from the edge of the box finding the back of the net through a crowd.

Liverpool continued to threaten after the break, with Bridge-Wilkinson bringing on James McConnell for Harvey Blair – back in the starting lineup after a long spell out through injury – and Cannonier back on the scoresheet on the hour.

The 17-year-old completed his hat-trick as great pressing work saw Melkamu Frauendorf through to square it across to Cannonier who made no mistake, before Miles capped the victory.

Not only has Cannonier scored five in his first two games of the season, but the U18s have now made it 10 throughout the side, in an emphatic start to the campaign for Bridge-Wilkinson’s youngsters.

Liverpool U23s made it a memorable mini-derby with a 3-1 win over Everton at Southport on Monday night - watch the highlights now on LFCTV GO.

Barry Lewtas' side produced a superb display with Sheyi Ojo, Kaide Gordon and Max Woltman all on the mark at The Pure Stadium.

Liverpool U19s began their 2021-22 UEFA Youth League campaign with a 1-0 victory over AC Milan on Wednesday afternoon.

Max Woltman's clinical finish early in the first half was the difference in an entertaining encounter at the Kirkby Academy.

Harvey Davies made sure of the three points with a terrific performance in the young Reds' goal as they'll now look to build on the victory when they travel to FC Porto later this month in Group B.

    the Cannon keeps booming ...

Oakley Cannonier continued his incredible form with a hat-trick for the Under 18s. The 17-year-old is on fire right now. Liverpool Under 18s played their opening game of the Premier League Cup on Saturday against Crystal Palace. They won the game 3-2 and have one player to thank for that – Oakley Cannonier.

The 17-year-old scored a hat-trick to win the game, pushing his tally to a ridiculous nine goals in five games this season. He had a goal inside 10 minutes in this one and made it two before half-time. A third in the second half won the game and was a statement – Cannonier is one to watch. The Reds might have something very special on their hands here.

Actually they lost 4-3. Owen Beck had the other goal. Surprised to see Conor Bradley start and play 63 minutes.

LIneup from the official site: Liverpool U23s: Pitaluga, Bradley (Gallacher, 63), Clayton, Koumetio, Beck, Morton, Bearne, Norris, Balagizi (Dixon-Bonner, 77), Musialowski (Corness, 85), Woltman.

I've got to say, adding the youth element to the tournament was a great move by UEFA.
