Listening to the game live from the official website. Chelsea just scored Hoping that Bolton will continue their fine form and get a draw at Blackburn.
I watched the game. IN BASIC...... 1-0: Weir slipped (That's all you really need to know, appalling go to give away) 2-0: Hasselbainks very flukey goal (he miss headed the ball, which lobbed wright) 3-0: Chelsea score wimbledon style goal (Against run of play) 3-1: Carsley scores after Everton put 10 passes together (a miracle) 4-1: Zola lobs Wright who's way off his line. The 4-1 scoreline flattered Chelsea, Everton didn't deserve to lose by that much. Although Chelsea deserved to win, 1-0 would have been the right result. Chelsea were very lucky, Everton were poor, and weir played absolutely shit.
Mmmm...i watched the game also mate. 1-0 Completely unlucky for the Everton defense as yer man fell down.Still keeper stood still as Gudjohnsen had to take in a curving cross, trap and shoot past keeper.Great goal from his point of view. 2-0Touch on the wierd side i'll agree. However he went for the header and put it on goal.Misshit?Maybe. 3-0Brilliant goal.'nuff said. 4-0Fantastic never say die attitude from Zola and even more credit for his ability to keep an eye on the defender, the ball, the goal and the keeper as he got his right foot to the ball with the precise amount of height and weight to lob the keeper who was inside the six yard box. All in all it was a worthy Chelsea win as yer 3 shots on goal just didn't amount to what was necessary to even come away with a point. You'll still make Europe though as the 'pool have gifted another UEFA spot to the league by wining the worthy cup.Although the Rovers are on a bit of a tear and will push you to the end.
we were outplayed yesterday, plain and simple. we have to face the facts...chelsea have beaten us fair and square 3 times this season, they deserve to finish higher than us. i'm just hoping they can edge out liverpool from the champions league.
I'm not saying Everton deserved a point from the game. Chelsea deserved to win, but the fact is Everton gave a terrible goal away in the first half in what was an equally contested first half (it ended with goal attempts on target 1-0) If Weir never slipped, it wouldn't have been a goal, the position and were he recieved the ball meant he'd have been a crap striker not to finish. Hasselbaink even admitted at the end of the game that he miss headed the ball which lobbed wright and literally went dropped into the top corner of the goal. The third goal from Chelsea was a long ball up field, which in my point of view led to "terrible defending" by Stubbs and Weir, maybe a great goal by a Chelsea point of view, but your not looking at the other side, also. Zola's goal was class, no question even though Wright was a miles off his line. Although I might be the most biased person when it involves Everton I'm just saying that 4-1 scoreline flattered chelsea that's all.
We can say what we like about wether we played well enough not to be beaten by three goals or not the fact still remains we have no Offencive threat. We cant rely on one man to do it all.(Rooney) When Others Campbell Miss sitters on a consistant level then you deserve to be beaten by three. You cant lay all the blame on the midfield. If they get campbell the ball in the six and it endsup in the stands your problem lies up front.
I think the player we missed the most against Chelsea was Radzinski. He's been our main threat all season (more than Rooney). Against Chelsea though our defence was the worst it's been, and our midfield was bad. Our midfield is our weakest link, even though Campbells no more than a giant block of lard upfront now since his injury.
Your Not Kidding lad Not to mention Mcbride. I wonder if Moyes and co are kicking themselves for not trying to work out a better deal with the MLS. We know he can put the ball in the back of the net.
i very much doubt it. the money MLS were asking, given the current market, was ridiculous. it was a non-stater from day-one. the money's better spent to strengthen the midfield, hopefully creating more chances for the current strikers. i don't think we've got a problem up-front so much...they're feeding off scraps for a lot of the time.
True yet we spent 3 Million quid on Campbell and I think Mcbride is a better player. And how many times has Campbell had the ball served to him on a platter and managed to put it over the top.
McBride did well for us, but Everton have Rooney, Radzinski, Ferguson, Campbell. Rodrigo can play as a striker and young Chadwick is looking to break into the first team next season. I don't think Moyes was looking to keep McBride on permanent, the reason he came in the first place because all of the above were not available, except Radz at the time. What's was the money asked for McBride?
£3 million was good money at the time, remember Campbell scored 9 goals in his first 8 games. He saved Everton from relegation, he just turned 29 years old and he was at his best. (The market was better to) McBride scored 4 goals in 7 games and how old is he? 32? 33? Although he seemed to score goals, he wasn't as effective as Campbell as a target man. Something Moyes always likes in his team.
i heard they started negiotations around the £3m mark...needless to say, they didn't last long... i mean, the market changed a lot over the last couple of years. who'd pay £3m for campbell now? noone.
We don't need another striker anyway, we need midfielders. It said last week (in the mirror) that Dacourt is on the transfer list for only £2 million. I'd love to get him back.
We need midfielders first. We could have Raul playing up front but if no one can pass him the ball he's no use to us. Graveson, Pembridge and Carsley do not strike fear into any opposition.
It would be nice to see RM: Carsley DM: Gravesen/Li Tie AM: Rodrigo LM: Linderoth We'll have Linderoth and Rodrigo for next season, two players that haven't been available all season and they've our two most creative players.
I would descibe Li Tie as a central midfielder, not attacking or defensive. And I thought Linderoth was the same. Watson seems quite comfortable at left mid. and scores a couple aswell. Not sure what will happen to Rodrigo. We've paid a million in loan fees but have hardly seen him.
Also, I hope to see the young Leon Osman in the first team next year. He is definately an attacking midfielder who has scored loads of goals for the reserves and the boys at Toffeenet sing his praises. Ideally I would play: LM: Watson DM: Linderoth AM: Osman RM: Carsley (or buy someone better) With Alexanderson, Li Tie, Pembridge and Rodrigo providing backup.
Li Tie is definitely a defensive mid. He lacks passing and shooting abilities, but he covers a lot of ground and has a good workrate, so it's better if he stays back just above defenders as a stopper.
