The spelling I used is the one I found in the Argentine media. Where did you find this spelling?

I listed Anton Shynder under Germany because he immigrated there and I listed Zahavi under Portugal because he will represent Portugal. For players with an additional nationality, I simply included it in parenthesis.

The kid's name is originally in Cyrillic. I don't think that the way I typed his name is so wrong, unless we must go by what Wikipedia calls him.

No, look at the list. Adam Braz is Canadian and Adam Bruh is an American kid.

I honestly had no idea this kid was an Argentine.

Like wise with Brian Nakash. He has a Syrian last name so I would assume that he is American.

Wikipedia has a lot of misinformation. Dougie Freedman is not even remotely Jewish but people decided to throw the categories in there based on his last name. That is why I didn't put Steven Cohen in to the list immediately.

Thank you. I never read that article and I will add him in to the list.

    1. Gennady Altman is listed under Ukraine.

    2. Walter Adrián Samuel is not Jewish. His step father might be, but he is not.

    3. Dor Yasur was a last minute decision to keep off. I don't remember my reasoning though.

    4. Shmuel Hazan hasn't played professional football in ages. I should really put him in the whereabouts unknown section.

In proper German the name would be spelled Goldstein. Assuming that his family came to Argentina from Europe, the spelling of his last name would remain Goldstein. Only Israel transliterates surnames to a phonetic that is different from how it was originally spelled. We don't make the mistake though with certain Jewish names:

    Liran Strauber and not Shtrauber
Strauss Ice Cream and not Shtrauss Ice Cream etc.

This is why I gave Yoel what I believe to be the correct spelling of his name.

Here is an updated list. Please see if I missed something. Remember, being on the list does not mean a player is Jewish according to Jewish law or practices Judaism, it simply means that they are of Jewish ancestry (at least one Jewish grandparent) and would qualify for Israeli citizenship and not count as a foreigner for Israeli clubs and possibly even contend for a spot on the national team.

That is awesome. Good job. I have a couple of questions:

    1. Could Reznyuk on the Maccabiah squad be Dmitri Reznyuk of FC Volochanin-Ratmir Vyshny Volochyok? Please see if you can confirm it.

    2. Could Cherniak be the Ukrainian footballer Dmytro Chernyak? I don't know if the Russians were allowed to use Ukrainian footballers.

With such a good squad, I am surprised that Russia didn't go further in the competition.
