..."the 65-year-old venue in Santa Fe was waiting for new floodlights to be released by the customs office so they can be installed"

    ahhh beautiful "red tape"

they probably need 37 more managers to give their ok before they can be released

    LOL

I have just seen online that Buenos Aires authorities have decreed a lockdown on Monumental Stadium in the aftermath of violent incidents in and near this venue after the match that relegated River Plate to the local 2nd division.

What will this mean for Copa America? If the stadium remains shut down, what will happen to the national team matches scheduled to play there? Will they be relocated to nearby stadia such as La Bombonera or Jose Amalfitani?

Also, the grave violence was a bit alarming. Argentina is about to host thousands of other South Americans for the Copa America. Will this force Argentine authorities to reinforce its police presence in all the matches, especially "high-risk" matches involving Brazil and any elimination round matches between Argentina and potential classic rivals such as Uruguay and Brazil?

there is no violence at national team matches. the only violence that will happen is when river fans attack the AFA and Grondona tonight.

if you are coming to the copa america you will be fine.

however, i do not want argentina playing in my stadium. i dont want grondona to make any more money from my club. and i hope neymar scores 5 against us in the final

    Ok good to know...

Gaucho, today is the one day I will refer to your team as "River Plate" because it's not a day for jokes, even in good fun.

I just read online that all of the Monumental's hall glass panes have been broken. A shame. Your team's institution, the entity, doesn't deserve this kind of treatment from its own so-called supporters.

Wouldn't worry about violence on national team matches, also it isn't like on every club match you have incidents like that of yesterday. Anyway, today Meiszner of the organizing commitee said that this week they'll check what's the state of the stadium to see what's needed so it's in good condition for the final, however they said that the possibility exists that the final won't be played there in which case the final would be played in Córdoba, though it's more likely it'll still be played at River's.

Right, as a not fully seated it's somewhere around that number, that's not the number fully-seated. Note at that first it was believed that the stadiums were going to neccesarily be fully seated, and many remodellings were made accordingly, apparently CONMEBOL changed their mind on that, the only full-seater is Salta's stadium.

how ironic would that be, being that Belgrano beat riBer and relegated them :p

They would also take the Copa America final away from them :D

I think Jujuy(Surprisingly to me) was full or nearly full for Colombia-Costa Rica. The capacity of San Juan's stadium I don't know, as a full seater it's 25,000 but it isn't a full seater so no idea if it's capped at that or what.

This isn't the first match for that stadium, the domestic based Argentina played a friendly against Venezuela months ago.

In here they're saying it's still at 25,000. It was clear that Chile support was going to be massive in Cuyo.

There was an article today that the Monumental might not be ready for the final and the likely replacement is the stadium in La Plata.
