mo said that this would occur (this being massive turnover during the offseason).

in addition to SGR not coming back , leitch and lisi are also goners

hopefully our new look metros will amount to something next year. also, with the departure of leitch, does this all but set in stone that we will be a 3-5-2 team, with regan/mendes/hernandez in the back?

Lisi and Leitch have been ex-Metros for weeks now. Wake me when some news happens.

But wasn't Leitch the Metro defender of the year according to the team? It will be an interresting set of changes but I eally wish there was some continuity for this team. Is MM the onlymember of the starting team on openiingg day 2003 left?

    Not saying much:

P.S. Didn't realize that you were a Villa fan, glutton for punishment? http://soccer-stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/teams/AstonVilla.html
0-3 Doncaster Rovers? Ouch, that's worse Rochester in the USOC! http://www.metrofanatic.com/mf/story.jsp?ID=2759 Or Charleston! http://www.metrofanatic.com/mf/story.jsp?ID=1956

Jake, Villa is for Uncle Jim. there was oonly enough money for one ticket to the States. dad won the coin toss and Uncle Jim to the ferry to England ending up in Birmingham.
Glutton for punishment comes with not accepting the move west and still rooting for the baseball Giants.
And I don't disagree that best Metro defender is somewhat akin to greatest French war hero of the 20th century, buut I do wish there was a sense of continuity and not just different guys all the time temporarily wearing the shirt.

Hello everyone and welcome to the party, releasing players (or not picking up options) at this time of the year is simply how the game is played. Players that are about to have pay raises/bonus' kick in on option years of their contracts just don't get renewed, in many cases the club then sets down and negotiates a new deal. Contracts end 12-31 so attempts to work something out have apparently failed to date with Lisi and Leitch so they were released. Interestingly in MLS the club still holds their rights for two years so they can't just go shopping in the league w/o the Metros getting something out of it. I think we will see lots of these announcements in the the next couple of weeks.
