Portsmouth veteran Linvoy Primus will train at David Beckham's Los Angeles Galaxy as he completes his rehabilitation from knee surgery. The 34-year-old defender will have the use of the Major League Soccer club's facilities after taking up an offer to link up with former Pompey masseur Chris Neville, who now works for the Galaxy. Could this be a player that Lalas might try to convince to play for the Galaxy while training with us? Link:http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/sport...+be+fit+in+time+for+the+new+season/article.do
If this guy plays for the Galaxy, I hope the Riot Squad is ready to serenade him with "John The Fisherman".
When I grow up, I want to be... A de-fen-der for the Gal-ax-y I think before My days are done I'm going to Be a Gal-ax-i-an [guitar riff here]
http://www.goal.com/en-us/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=732304 Looks like he's on his way. Not sure if he'll be playing or rehabilitating, or both.
This is the type of move I have been looking for . . . at least it shows that there is an effort to upgrade the defense even if we can't get him to sign.
He is still signed with Portsmouth. He is only coming to get fit for next EPL season not to play for us. Besides, we need younger defenders not old, injured ones who haven't played since 2006.
yeah your right, what are the galaxy thinking trying to lure in a guy that is good enough to be signed with an EPL team . . . .
I can read the article and draw both conclusions, that he's A. coming to play and B. coming to rehabilitate. It's just not clear yet. It does say he was a key player last season and has earned a contract extension with them.
Yeah and so was Xavier last season. Now most of us want him shipped out. EPL is not the end all be all. We have our share of broken EPL defenders thank you. Of his impending American odyssey, Primus said: "I'm going out to Los Angeles to get a good week's work under my belt. What's not clear about that? If by last season you mean 2006/07 then fine but he sat out the entire season in 2007/08 because of his injury.
Equally he isn't as good as the defenders Portsmouth currently have, but he could still do a job for LA. His heart is in Portsmouth though, and the fans love him. I think he's their longest serving player as well.
Even if he's just here training, this is pretty cool. An EPL guy is coming here to TRAIN WITH US. Just think about that for a moment.... And I think this will be of tangental value to the Galaxy players. The higher the quality of the training sessions, the more prepared our players are for the real game. Either way, this is a good thing, I think.
Yeah. Remember when Beckham went to train with Arsenal? I guess with Ruud's stress on fitness we are the arsenal of MLS? I think it's really good for the young guys (especially defenders like Franklin and Valentin) to be able to train with this guy.
