We are the 6th most "underperforming" team in terms of xG, meaning we score less goals than we should, i.e. our finishing hasn't been very good. As for individual players, Espinoza is one of the top xG overperformers (2nd in the league) and Cade Cowell appears to be the most underperforming xG dude in MLS, with a -2.84. Rodrigues is 5th and Benji(! - even in limited minutes) is 6th with 1.88 and 1.82 respectively. https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/expe...biggest-underperformers-overperformers-in-mls
I bet he also leads the league in the cumulative distance the ball has caromed off his feet when trying to trap it.
Oof...I actually thought he had a better game than usual last Saturday. It's weird to hear announcers sometimes say thinkgs like the Quakes have one of the best front 3 in MLS. Really? 1 really good, 1 pretty good, and 1, well, he's young, hopefully he gets better.
I’m glad that our peers think that we’re doing OK on the analytics. That makes me feel less crappy about Our team. Specifically, it gives me hope that we will get better over time. Thanks for all of these charts and articles! Go Quakesfans!!

a small team maybe but no longer a small league... also if Sporting KC can make this list, there's no reason the Quakes couldn't be on it with more investment from Fisher 1653772725373026304 is not a valid tweet id https://www.sportico.com/feature/soccer-teams-football-club-ranking-list-1234721408/
I think the 2013-2016 run in the "worst 4-year runs" list is garbage, though I don't know what all the other candidates are, but there must be many. We had a 1.5 PPG in 2013, at 14-11-9, and only missed the playoffs on GD I think. In 2015 we were 13-13-8. 2014 and 2016 were bad (last and next to last) but the 2013 and 2015 teams were not bad.
Of the teams that started in 1996, we are the worse, and overall, most of the teams below were started in the last 10 years or are no longer in existence (Tampa Bay, Miami, and Chicas USA). Sad.
Thanks for posting...I think. Having lived through both runs, I would prefer not be reminded of them. We almost didn't renew our season tickets after 2000. Glad we did. Still, being a Quakes fan is not for faint of heart. Go Quakes!

Clearly this indicates the more you pay the lower the points. In this bizzaro-world we should be winning!
It does highlight that, theoretically, the Quakes could be a much better team with the right staffing. The problem is that Fisher has no idea how to identify good ops talent. I'm certainly not ready to write Gonzalez off yet, but I don't have high hopes because Fisher's ability to have success thus far, is just luck, of which he's had almost none in his entire time owning the Quakes.
