To me, the fullback positions, that we've essentially ignored due to the talent in midfield, is now the biggest issue. Mendy brings absolutely nothing to the attack. Carvajal is getting old. We really need these positions to carry their weight now that we no longer have a historic midfield. It actually kills me that we had Theo Hernandez and Ashraf Hakimi yet decided to get rid of both. They are the best right and left fullbacks in the world right now imo.
The fullback is the single most overrated position on the field. If there's a position where good enough is good enough, thats it right there. Marcelo on certain nights couldn't defend himself against a pigeon, and he was still part of one of the best if not the best CL teams in history. Something is wrong if Endrick is starting for us, that's all i'm going to say. It's either coming from upstairs or something is very wrong. AS calls out the team for an "excess of confidence and arrogance". This kind of hits the mark with me. Marca gives everybody, coach and players the lowest rating besides Modric.
Kroos haters trying to act like they look cool by revising history is funny. We lack a player controlling tempo and there’s nobody better than him at that, so it’s natural we were going to suffer. 1841579693973323793 is not a valid tweet id
This is on Carlo and his dinosaur tactics first and foremost. Yes, we've been getting the results despite some bad football on display but how do you get outplayed by LILLE? Theoretically even our bench should be able to beat them.
This is exactly why Barca walk through the League and we're dropping points. Like both Madrid dailies say this morning, this team believes just wearing the kit is enough. Nobody does the extra, we play like 50% is enough. Truth is, it isn't. I've noticed how whenever Vini is beefing with somebody he makes fun of guys for playing for less successful teams. Maybe that's kind of an arrogance that's infiltrating a pretty young squad that entered the sport in a privileged position and didn't have to grind through it. If you want to talk about tactics, this isn't a tactically diverse squad or one with players that have a lot of depth to their game. It's a team wildly constructed around athleticism. Running fast, being stronger, being there first. The negative to this is, if the players are not using that to their advantage through a lack of effort, the team is average.
Why does your forward has as many touches as your midfielders? Something is wrong here: 1. The tactics (the midfield is being bypassed in some manner) 2. Our midfielders are not as comfortable with the ball as we thought (unlikely)
Lille ran more miles as a team, and recovered the ball more often. The fact that we had more of the ball but managed to foul overwhelmigly more often than Lille did, along with the fact that we ran less shows lack of discipline and effort.
Transfer policy is fine and all, but we need experience. Too many dumb mistakes, not enough guys that treat this as a full time job and go out there to put a shift and secure the points. The club has done great in identifying talents, but we're looking at experienced players like they're crippled war vets, this has to change.
Speaking of lack of discipline: https://as.com/futbol/champions/es-penalti-de-camavinga-n/ But sure, let's complain about "the butchers". Were getting treated very very well by the officiating this season.
It is not a big deal, they just need to kidnap Kroos in the next transfer window. FYI I really hate this formation without Kroos. Just do 433 with a couple of wide players. Do not over complicate it.
We hit rock bottom yesterday, need to learn from our mistakes and move on. The lose isn't hard cuz we didn't lose 14 games straight in the CL and 35 games in total, but the hard thing is the way we looked. we looked like sh*t. Mendy doesn't need to play unless we face City/Bayern/Liverpool/Barca. Instead of playing with Tchouaméni and Cama play with one of them and Guler.
We need more creativity as Kroos is no longer here Move Camavinga to LB Play like this: TC Carvajal - Militao - Rüdiger - Camavinga Tchuameni Valverde - Bellingham Rodrygo Mbappé - Vini
Of course, I feel upset, but we just need to make the knockout round. In that stage, the only team that poses a significant challenge to us is Manchester City, and I don't care when we will meet them in the knockoff stage. Quarterfinals, semifinals, and the final are the same. The real tournament has not started. In the league, we are just 3 points behind Barcelona. Currently, they are the stronger team, but the question remains: can they sustain this level of intensity until the season's conclusion? Their standout player is a 17-year-old who may lack experience in managing a full season, while their other key player is 36 years old. And how often have a team appeared promising in the first half of the season only to ultimately lose the title?
Barca has their injuries soon: Gavi, De Jong just return.. soon Arauju.. they are hungry It will be tough
Vini has been awful. He has "Brazilian" written all over his career. I don't see this guy playing in elite tournaments after turning 30. He seems a little bored already.
Yeah that was a disgusting performance, possibly our worst of the season so far. We could’ve grabbed a draw/win but would’ve been underserved. There’s a multitude of issues as already pointed out regarding the tactics, but no matter what tactics we use it won’t cover up for the lack of attitude lack of form from key players. My observations: - while many teams do not have a Kroos and still function, Carlo has yet to find a solution for that. With no Kroos you need to play a high pressing game, win the ball higher up and move the lines higher and closer to each other. Vini and co shouldn’t be constantly making runs from the half way line with no supporting players within a half mile radius. Players aren’t sure when to attack and when to stay back, where they are supposed to be etc. it’s like making off the ball runs is a foreign concept. - i’ll use Vini as an example here to illustrate; losing the ball cheaply multiple times then seeing the opposition run in numbers towards your goal while you walk around flailing your arms is not a good look. Need better attitude from everyone. - lack of form from Carvajal, Mendy, Rudiger, Tchouameni, Vini… that’s too many ‘key’ players. Not sure if it’s fatigue or form, hope it’s the latter and they snap out of it soon. All in all, I could find positives from every single game we played so far except this one, just a shit show from minute 1. Let’s hope this is rock bottom and we go upwards from here but the early signings aren’t promising.
What would Kroos have changed? He wouldn't have scored and he can't stop Rudigier from doing being unfocused and doing crazy/dumb shit. People always do this crap. Same cries for Joselu as if this time last year Joselu wasn't be insulted left and right in this same forum
Many of these comments are dumb. Last year how many times did we start off slow or drop points when we shouldn't have? They have of course all forgotten that and apparently we won each match 5-0 because they loved how we didn't buy a star striker and how Joselu was a backup We still won the CL and league.. even though these same "fans" said we had no chance when we only brought in Joselu, asked how we would score goals and did this same routine every time we win didn't win with ease. Same "fans" will be beating their chest like their the ones who played and stood strong through the tough times in a season lol.
