Will it be a yellow and Blue week?

There are some good games on the weekend. Hopefully Hapoel Beer Sheva wins cause i want to see them in Europe. Also I will be delighted if my boys Maccabi Tel Aviv win. The derby Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv Vs Maccabi Tel Aviv should be really exciting and there will no doubt be more then 3 goals scored.

Also I wouldn't mind seeing Beitar Yerushalim (KAPPA) score some goals and avoid relegation. During the week the deputy prime minister spoke to the boys to pump them up, we'll c what happens.

Anyway hope ur team wins this week.
Unless u are a Hapoel Tel Aviv, Bnei Sachnin, or Maccabi Ahi Nazrat supporter.

    Shabbat Shalom and Happy Pesach.

Re: Will it be a yellow and Blue week?

Anything to see Beitar out of the bottom would be helpful! :)

Not much of intrest in the Tel Aviv Derby....
Bney Yehuda is not in form and Maccabi Tel Aviv is Maccabi Tel Aviv....so i doubt it will really be a shock & awe kinda game.

Beer sheva would be intresting if they go to Europe.... InterToto perhaps ;)

    Felafel22

He doesn't seem to like the Arab Israeli or Hapoel clubs. The Arab Israeli teams you can guess why but he still has not proved as to why he dislikes Hapoel clubs. The labor party in Israel has no connections to any of these clubs and they are all privately owned. He probably just dislikes the fact that Arab Israeli players have played at Hapoel clubs.

If you ask me, leave politics and football seperate.

    Re: Felafel22

    Rony...
    Just look at there logo,
    [IMG]

Back in the begining, i think it was appropriate to have a Communist Hammer and that tool used to cut weeds that are high in there logo....
The Logo represents for many jews oppression and persecution. Some of whom still have scars. It is like saying that Maccabi will have an eagle that is similar to the eagle used in Syria, Egypt or Iraq. Some would consider it a direct insult to Arab-jews who were persecuted there. And they would have been called "traitors" or "leftists"

Knowing Falafel.. I share the same common idea about Hapoel. It is a leftist team or Modus Operandi. Not saying that all the staff members, players and fans are leftist, but the status of them, waving flags of Communist symbols do make them 'leftist'. I think they need to change the image ;)

    Modern Zionism

Maybe you should take a refresher course in modern zionism. The Hapoel crest is more about the 'new Jew' than about opeing scars. In the 1920s when modern Zionism was being talked about in Europe by secular Jews, they had the picture and ideals of showing that Jews can be strong too. They used posters to encourage aliyah (or immigration) to Israel (then Palestine) by showing pictures of Jews working in fields, very muscular and very different from the European stereotypes of Jews. If the sickle represents oppression to Jews in Israel, then why would it be part of the logo for one of the largest battalions in the IDF?

This anti-Hapoel sentiment seems to be more common among Beitar Jerusalem fans (who sometimes tend to be right wing) and uneducated Israelis or foreignors. Go to any university campus in Israel and you will see that no one takes offense to the Hapoel crest.

    I stated then, not now.

Then, it was the 1920's and the pinnacle of zionism. The whole jewish concept was built on socialism. The kibbuts and the aliyah thing. When Ben Gurion declared the state of israel, communist politicians were on hand..

    But that was then.
I am reffering to now, or better yet....a sooner era than the pre-1950's.
What happened in Russia against the jews was catasrophic. Jews in Russia were persecuted and some were sent to hard labour and others were sent to prison (Like Natan Sharansky).

Maybe its the Beitar/Maccabi fans who are normally 'right wingers' that disguise Hapoel as a 'commi' team. Who knows. But from many Russians in Israel who fled former USSR, its not a very nice thing to see the Hammer and Harvest Instrument..... Thats just my opinion, and possibly Falafels too! We happen to both be dissendents of Russian ancestory, and most of us wouldn't want to see the commi thing ever again. Not in Israel. Make note...Today's Israeli Communist Party is made up of Arabs and Extreme-blinded Israelis.......

But whoever brought this topic up also brought a good idea...
The question is: Should we, the Israelis drop the Beitar, Maccabi and Hapoel from our teams and start with Inter, United, and much more attractive names that don't reflect modern zionism or jewish roots?

i'd always been under the impression that hapoels were leftist, beitar was nationalist, and maccabi were somewhere in the middle. The hammer and sickle is the symbol of the nahal brigade isn't it? i personally want israeli arab teams to succeed in ligat ha'al (only sakhnin) but thats because i think that israeli arabs get the shaft in much of daily israeli life.

Its there problem they get shafted...
They refuse to be citizens of Israel....

I don't see Sachnin or Achi Nazareth succeeding in Liga Ha'al :)
I look forward to seeing them in Liga Leumit!

there's a difference between (israeli) arabs and palestinians. and israeli arabs are citizens of israel and have representation in the knisset. neither of the israeli arab teams are palestinian. sakhnin is in the middle of the north, well within the green line and far from gaza or judea samerian.

    Listen, this is getting political....
With respect to the rules on the board and to KYHS....i think you should make up a new thread about this issue on the political forum or Private Message me and i will give you the WHOLE reason. It is no appropriate to talk about it here, cause its way off topic.

All i gotta say is that, yes, there is a difference between Palestinians and Arab Israelis. But the problem is that many of them work against the state of israel. Not all of them do. Many of them are law biting citizens who are proud to be part of the state. And i respect them.

To what you said about the Arabs who get represented in the knesset. Yes...There is representation of it. The problem with that is, most are accused of being agents to the Palestinian Authority and getting far to the point where they justify Palestinian attacks against Israeli civilians. Sometimes Arab Israelis too... Its degrading! :(
