This is why it's still up for debate. Before he left the nest, people thought he had all the tools to be big in Europe but his slow start at Atletico has shown his deficiencies. I'm not saying that he's a failure. Like you said, it remains to be seen. However, the extent of his abilities and talent could be debated. Thus why it's still up for debate. Not everything has to be concrete. Sure, he's proven to be good enough for Liga MX but the present question is whether he's talented enough to play regularly in La Liga (or Europe for that matter).

That's the problem with how mexico handles it's youth. Most clubs look for the quick fix, south america, instead of helping integrate their younger players. That's why mexico will never be better considered a world power and a constant underachiever in the eyes of the world. Look at the way the dutch handle their youth compared to us. That's why their better than us. They are able to sustain a better national team and league with the base being it's youth. If I was gonna tier the canteras right now it would be 1 and 2 - Chivas/Pachuca 3/4 - Wilas/Santos Atlas, Pumas, Toluca, Monterrey Everybody else. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexico_national_under-20_football_team 18/26 are from 4 teams Chivas/Pachuca/wilas/santos If 4-5 more teams put the money and effort that chivas/pachuca/wilas/santos are putting in, our youth set up would look amazing and the future great. But they don't.
I'm not saying don't play younger players but there needs to be a balance. What's the point if simply playing younger players for the fck of it even though it's clear that they won't make the grade? Tell me what exactly has it do e for chivas? They are one step from relegation. There needs to be better scouting all across the country but it is not the job of any club to try to be the bloodline of the nt. Just about every league is carried by foreign players. It's the same in Mexico as it is in holland
