Maccabi Ahi Nazareth 5-4 Maccabi Herzliya The two big teams of Israel's National League (1st division) met up this weekend in a dramatic matchup in which former Aston Villa skipper Najwan Ghrayib set up four of Nazareth's five goals. The first goal came of a Ghrayib cross into the box where Peter Almoala smacked it in to give the visitors the early advantage. Six minutes later in the 17th minute, Ghrayib had a give and go with Haim Silvas which resulted in another cross to Idan Hillel who made no mistake of it, 2-0 Nazareth. In the 32nd minute Herzliya were dealt another blow. referee Meir Levi and linesman Nimar Abu Ziad decided that Herzliya's Rami Amar deliberately fouled Nazareth's Gustavo Bokoli and Bokoli was shown the red card. To Herzliya gaffer Nir Lahman, the game was already over. Tzahi Shmaryahu gave Herzliya a glimmer of hope with his goal just before the half. After halftime Herzliya looked revitalized and equalized when Nadiv Simentov sent a long ball which Kobi Hassan reached to before Meir Cohen had a chance, 2-2. Later Herzliya took the advantage when Ashraf Suliman took down Kobi Hassan in the box, Shmaryahu converted the penalty. But Ghrayib did it again with another cross to Idan Hillel for the 3-3 equalizer in the 59th minute. Ghrayib later runs through the area setting up Avad Moed for the 4:3 advantage. Soon more hysteria when Gustavo Bokoli sends a 25 meter shot that reflects off of Fernando Silvera. 5-3 to the visitors. The 90th minute gave Herzliya an extra chance when Daniel Gutierrez scored and put them just a goal down but not even the three minutes of extra time could help them as Nazareth preserved their victory and moved to fourth place in the standings. Hapoel Tzafririm Holon 1-1 Maccabi Kfar Kana Holon's Miroslaw Filipko couldn't handle a dangerous ball as Ofer Shitrit made no mistake of it and gave Kfar Kana the 1-0 advantage. It almost lasted until Holon equalized in the 89th minute. The fans later called for the Holon staff to resign and they were escorted off by police. Hapoel Jerusalem 3-0 Beitar Be'er Sheva Jerusalem continued their climb back to Ligat haAl (Premier League) with goals from Shai Aharon, Ram Stei, and Ophir Azzo. Maccabi Kiryat Gat 0-2 Hapoel Ra'anana The unforseeable occured as Kiryat Gat's win streak ended to lowly Hapoel Ra'anana. Goals came from Raffi Fore and Shlomi Toldo. Bnei Sakhnin 1-0 Hapoel Haifa Things continue downhill, as Haifa currently have taken on a Brasilian striker on trial to see if they can solve the scoring drought. The fans of Gate 5 have proclaimed that they will not let the club continue if changes aren't made soon. The club was recently on the verge of a possible comeback to Ligat haAl. Only time will tell if they will be able to in the end. Sami Ayish scored the only match goal in the 45th minute. Nazareth Ilit 2-0 Hapoel Ramat Gan Nazareth Ilit solidified their place in 2nd with another win over Ramat Gan. Assi Tubi scored Nazareth's second goal as he hopes to make his Ligat haAl return real soon as only the top two spots qualify for promotion.
