OK. I guess this is the best place to ask this. Can someone tell me how life is like in Portugal? What do they like to do in the weekends other than watching futebol live? I know that they share the Iberian peninsula with Spain but what are the state of relations between the two countries now?

I don't think I can make Euro 2004 but I hope that I can do stadium visits to Lisbon and Porto sometime afterwards. The new Dragao stadium in Porto intrigues me the most because of the way it's designed. But enough of that for now. ;)

When I think of Portugal, Lisbon immediately comes to mind as my wife and I spent 4 days there, back in 2006. We stayed at the Albergoria Senhora do Monte hotel in the oldest part of town. It was not expensive. If you visit Lisbon, St Georges Castle is worth a visit. The grounds contain turkeys, ducks, swans and other birds. The outer walls include the medieval church of Santa Cruz. Lovely views of Lisbon can be seen from the walls. The main square known as the Rossio has lovely fountains and is worth a visit. We dined once at the oldest restaurant in the city named Tavares Rico. The sole cooked in champagne sauce was delicious and unforgettable. The service was excellent, the wine list top notch, and although expensive it was worth the splurge.
