What position is Alex playing these days?

Mostly as a central middy, sometimes at the sixt spot, although in this game against Bohemka, the coach stuck him on the left wing...he scored by getting into the middle and shooting from the top of the box...isolated on the wing, he sent a few in to the box....

FK Viktoria Zizkov started preseason training on Monday, June 17 and after picking up his high school diploma on Friday, Alex was among them. Still a little bit unclear his status with the club. He's the youngest of the bunch, and soon-to-be teammate, Tomas Necid, is nearly double his age! First preseason game this Saturday against Teplice.

Is Alex considering college soccer at all? I don’t mean that as an insult and I hope you see it as a good natured question.

Seems like he’s right at that age now and a lot of players even in Europe go to play NCAA ball and get a degree.

Just seems like it would make sense from where Im sitting but what do I know.

No offense taken at all. We had looked at a few schools and there was some interest from a few, but even with scholarship money it would have been much more expense than university here. The idea is to take a "gap" year now. See how far he can go with soccer and maybe matriculate next year, at least part-time...On the other hand, if the soccer takes off and takes him somewhere else, that plan would be put on hold. He's got a great opportunity now at Zizkov. Not many his age, especially at Slavia, are on second-division rosters, let alone first division. All premature at this point, but he seems to have his health issues behind him. Filling out now. A nice 6'2", which sets him apart a bit. On the other hand, they don't seem to give a lot of opportunities to young guys...

  7. Dutch top clubs stimulate talents to study, as it's a mark of responsibility and discipline we like. We even have special programms with institutions to fit study and training together.

Three preseason games in the books, all against first-division sides, albeit not the strongest ones, but, overall, Zizkov did well. Lost to Teplice 0-1, tied Jablonec 1-1, and yesterday, a debacle 1-7 drubbing by Ceske Budejovice. Like all the players, Alex has played a half in each game and has even got on the scoresheet. Scored the tying goal against Jablonec, and came close again to bagging his second yesterday against CB. After that game shook hands with 'Cobra", Zdenek Odrasek, of former MLS fame. Got some good feedback from the manager. Seems to be gaining confidence with every game. Not afraid to take defenders on. Up next is FVS Zwickau on Wednesday!

So far, so good. Zizkov gets its first win against FSV Zwickau, 4-1. Alex came in at halftime with score 1-1, and scores right away to give them the lead, and assists on one of the other two goals. So, after four preseason games has 2 goals and 1 assist, good enough for co-leader on the team. Has been told him he won't be going back to the U19s, where he is still eligible to play...
