Re: Lichaj at Villa and out on loan: Who's Live at Leeds?

Wow. That would be news to me. I just did a google search and found at least six links reporting it, including AOL. What I did not find was a major newspaper reporting it so you are probably right. There also does not appear to be any audio of it available. It would have been nice to get a comment from Houlier denying it as, in English professional football culture, this would be as bad as it gets as managers just do not do stuff like that. On the blogs, a number of fans were outraged that he would come out and say that, even if it was true. So I am glad that it was just an "urban myth".

On the other hand, I thought Lichaj played pretty well that day except for two absolutely terrible, game changing plays but, as someone pointed out at the time, saying that is like asking, "So other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?"

Glad he found his level at Leeds United.

An older head who usually posts fairly reliable information about Leeds has said today he has heard from a good source that Leeds will sign Lichaj on loan.

I'm assuimg he means in the next few weeks after Villa sign a FB like Hutton.

Take it with a grain of salt.

The guy that posted it is not one to make stuff up. The information comes from talking to someone within the club (who "works closely with Grayson") while following the club in Scotland.

McLeish seems to want to mend fences with Warnock, and if they do sign Hutton, they'll have a surplus of fullbacks.

We will have Warnock, Young, Hutton, and Clarke a make shift LB. Warnock worries me though because I have no clue how he will play. He is so inconsistent although Lichaj doesn't really scream consistency either.

I suggest Lichaj goes on loan for another season and then try for the starting RB or LB spot next season. Young will be 33 next season and Warnock will be 30.

David Stockdale and Eric Lichaj aren't in the Villa and Fulham squads respectively for tonights games.

Simon Grayson says he expects 1 or 2 deals to be done by the time Leeds travel to Norway (game takes place July 26th.)

Make of it what you will.

Um what?? Stockdale isn't even american so why is he even listed here? Also, Lichaj played the 2nd half against Walsall and a lot of fans were very happy with his performance.

From someone in the know on a Leeds supporters forum:

Lichaj is back in on season-long loan, keith andrews from blackburn, decent midfielder a good signing (money actually paid for this lad), and james mcfadden striker from brum .. freebie, great signing IMO though, birmingham paid around 5 million a few years back for him.

Would be great for him. He'll be ready for Prem next season, and Villa
will need to make a decision on him as well. Only 23 next summer.

Lichaj played CB for Villa today against Tamworth a 5th division side in England. Lichaj was playing with all the reserves. It ended 2-1 villa won

If he's only going to get reserves minutes at AVFC this year, I hope they loan him to Leeds. Does Leeds still want him, or have they found other outside backs?

The manager at Leeds has been trying to Lichaj for a while. If a loan will happen, it will be right before the transfer window ends.

Grayson said a deal has been agreed with another club, so its no one unattached. Would be surprised if we sign any of the trialists beside Alexandre Mendy.

Judging from our previous signings it will probably be someone off the radar entirely but the mostly likey candidates are Lichaj, Ryan Bertrand from Chelsea, and Nick Montgomery from Sheff. Utd.

Re: Lichaj at Villa and out on loan: Who's Live at Leeds?

    From a preseason report:

Eric Lichaj is infinitely better than Beye and may very well have a place as a starting right (or left, if his summer with the US National Team is to be believed) in the Premier League. Depending on how bad Warnock is, it may very well be this season. Lichaj is good, but he's very raw and capable of putting in some very woeful performances. He's going to get more time with the first team this year, there's little question of that, but it may well be a bumpy ride at times. It usually is with defense, but the talent is most certainly there; he just needs experience.
