I think so too if we could get him for a good price. He'd be a better option than Chiesa currently offers.

Now that Dom has committed to not pulling a Trent/Ibou, I’m excited to see how Iraola will use him. How does he fit into the same team as Wirtz? I’m sure that Iraola is excited to work with him, because a player with his engine is perfect for a high intensity style of play.

This is good news indeed. Now we need MacAllister to maintain his WC form for the season.

Well Villa is about to sign him. Who exactly are we in for? After the England loss. I need some positive news to lift my spirit. Very wierd off season so far.

Liverpool are looking at multiple options to improve the attacking unit, and Everton star Iliman Ndiaye is a target for them.

A name on the Liverpool shortlist is Rayan from Bournemouth.

Liverpool are also frontrunners for Mainz midfielder Kaishu Sano, who impressed for Japan at the World Cup.

PSG defender Illia Zabarnyi remains a player of interest to Liverpool and is reportedly a target to keep an eye on this summer as the Reds react to market opportunities.

I wonder if one option with Szoboszlai is to use him on the right wing. It’s a way to have him and Wirtz play in the same team without losing the midfield battle. Between Dom and Frimpong the width on the right can be provided. Dom can also help Frimpong with the defending and the midfielders with the midfield battle. The front 3 becomes Wirtz, Isak, and the left winger, but Wirtz still gets to play centrally.

I think for some games that makes a lot of sense. In other games we still might want to go with a more attacking right winger. I also still want to see us sign an upgrade over Mac Allister in that position.

That's a pretty large Barcola assumption there.

Wirtz and Isak were bargains (come back to this post after this Season)

I don't buy the Barcola rumors. Just doesn't make sense to me. Yes, he’s likely movable IF Diomande moves to PSG, but we don't need another left side dominant winger. Maybe if we sell Gakpo this summer, but we were already heavy on the left wing last year with he and Ekitike. That was probably the cause of why Salah saw so much less service (and less scoring). We really need a right wing attacker that will pull defenses away from, and open up the left side with Gakpo, and eventually Ekitike. Probably Munoz is that player.

I would bet that the Rayan rumors are more likely real than Barcola ones.

Also, I think we may see fewer additions than we think this summer. While we did fall off in performance vs the previous year - we did still finish 5th. A lot has been made about Tottenham signing 7 new players, but they were nearly relegated. Don’t expect similar levels of additions in comparison to them.

I’d still like a defensive-minded midfielder and another right-sided attacker. I don’t expect much more than that this summer to be honest.

I think Bacola signing would be buildng for the long term and we would need more than just someone like him.Gakpo isnt the answer on the left but perhaps useful for the next year as he can cover Isak until Hugo regains his fitness.
We did the strikers last season and now the wingers need a revamping with Gakpo and Chiesa not being up to snuff.

Wouldn’t John Stones do a job for us much like Milner or Gary Mac?

Victor Munoz’s favored position is Left Wing - but he can play across the front.

Barcola’s favored position is also Left Wing - but he’s played over 20 matches as a Right Winger and has way more first team experience than Munoz.

I believe the focus is on the Right Wing because unless you consider Rio a starter there - we don’t have anything else there.

Right now our entire forward line is light:

Isak, Gakpo, Munoz, and Rio (Ekitike long term injury).

chiesa is so injury prone / unfit - high energy football seems like it would break him.

but you’re right everybody gets a fresh chance with the new manager
