One player who’s appeared on Liverpool's radar over the last couple of days is Roma midfielder Manu Kone - a player who has massively caught the eye at the ongoing World Cup. Curtis Jones could also be sold and Inter Milan are expected to come back with a new bid for the £35m-rated playmaker. Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that Harvey Elliott will be given a chance to impress in pre-season after a disastrous loan spell with Aston Villa.
So, these [young]Brazilian midfielders are moving or being touted for moves, yet were nowhere to be seen in the World Cup. Instead, we had Caemiro, Guimarães and Fabinho. I failed to understand that and still don't understand Ancelotti's selections.
Roma have had an offer of 40m euros rejected by Atletico Madrid for 25-year-old Manu Kone. Manchester United and Liverpool are also interested in the France defender. (Corriere dello Sport - in Italian) Thomas Schjelderup's performances for Norway at the World Cup have increased Benfica's asking price for the 22-year-old winger to £43m. Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham are interested in him. (A Bola - in Portuguese)
I would like to see him swap positions with Mac. Flo has a much better passing range, can dribble and bring the ball up better, more room to spring attacks, while Mac crashes the box better, can't be easily dispossesed or bumped off, can draw fouls outside the box and shoots when there is a chance. That should be Don's position but he is allergic to the box we need bodies in there) and does not take shots when presented. Iraola will figure it all out, lol.
Yup. I’ve thought Macca would be better further forward and prefer Wirtz out wide, along with Szobo on the right. We’ve got a mismatched midfield.
I heard he has a contract through the next cycle so my theory is based on that. My theory is he picked this veteran team so that he could come in and rebuild the next from the ground up. If they did well, great they ride off into the sunset. If what actually happens happens it gives him a chance at a rebuild, starting with the Copa, this summer without people sniping about where's, fill in the blank favorite player.
Liverpool are showing an interest in signing Tottenham defender Djed Spence in the summer transfer window, according to a report from Team Talk. Liverpool continue to maintain an interest in an experienced defender and two players that they could still sign are Nico Schlotterbeck and Micky van de Ven. Matias Soule, who appears set to leave AS Roma this summer. Roma need money to fund new signings and Soule is one of those they're willing to sacrifice for a reported €35m. Liverpool are weighing up a move to sign Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Gomes looks like a real possibility. the rest are not players we want or need (Schlotterbeck if he is healthy - he good).
He’s very poor on the ball and actually not a great defender but for his recovery speed. And he’s always injured.
the injury thing is an issue I do agree there. Seems ok with the ball to me. Can pass it, hold it up and run with it - he doesn't have to be Ineista to play in our back-line!
But we do need ball playing cbs for our new managers plans to take hold. Konates inability to do much with the ball was a big shortcoming for Slot too - especially given the midfields collapse last season.
Liverpool have made fresh contact with Paris St-Germain over a potential summer move for France forward Bradley Barcola, 23. (TeamTalk) Liverpool have dismissed a new approach for Curtis Jones, with Inter Milan's improved bid of about £27m falling short of their £30m asking price for the 25-year-old England midfielder. (Talksport)
I don't know why Jarrod Bowen is not an option. I don't even know who I want lol, but has to be one that primarily plays on the right.
Yeah - there is something in that. I loved Konate's beast defendimng, but he wasn't that coolest on the ball - Van de Ven is better than that in those situations (I think) - wouldn;t play for Holland otherwise
