Newcastle have been dawdling over a deal with him for weeks apparently. Then we stepped in. Maybe we've been tracking him for a while and decided to move coz NU were getting closer? Who knows eh ....

Over the last few days, Newcastle United had been holding highly advanced talks to secure the talented player’s services. However, the Anfield executives burst forcefully into the negotiations in the past few hours, quickly reaching a verbal agreement on personal terms with the player himself.
To avoid any kind of response from the Magpies, Liverpool’s hierarchy did not hesitate to immediately trigger the player’s release clause, set at 40 million euros.

Looks he’s played a lot of both right and left wing. Hes right footed, very fast, and loves to take on a man. Definitely something we lacked big time last season. His versatility will be important. I’m hoping that he is the first of 3 forwards signings.

Did I also see a report out of Uruguay that Darwin is back on a free?

If so, Darwin would probably be a good temporary replacement for Ekitike…

I’m very into Darwin returning on a free.

As an 80 million pound record signing who was our answer to Haaland he was incredibly disappointing.

As a free transfer to come off the bench and be a backup to Isak while Ekitike heals from his injury, we might love him.

Munoz, Nunez, and Diomande as forward signings would replenish our front line while only needing to spend big on one of them. If we get a big offer for Gakpo we could sell and go after a 4th forward this summer.

Lots of rumours but some say the club is quietly denying they're going to re-sign him.

Yeah, for me getting Darwin back on a free would be a very smart move.

The job we need done is "Keep Hugo's spot warm for 8-9 months".

There's no Academy kid ready to step in and do it, so unless we're working on a solid signing ready to be a bench option who can deliver long-term, imo there's a strong case he'd be a great in the role.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move to sign Sporting Lisbon star Francisco Trincao this summer, with his agent now suggesting it will take a huge bid to secure his signature.

The Reds are ‘interested’ in landing Khephren Thuram from Juventus.

Liverpool defender Carter Pinnington has completed a permanent transfer to West Brom, joining the Championship side after 12 years with his boyhood club.

I would be very surprised if we sign Darwin again.

Dunno, I've dismissed Nunez out of hand but reading these posts I can see a clever rationale for it. But no long term commitment please.

My guess is a 2-year deal?

Signing him - a lot will depend on how he does in the WC. I don't think he's played at all for a couple of months?

So long as Yan Diomade is the other one, I'm fine with two!

Updated article: Yan Diomande is valued at about £100m by RB Leipzig.
Diomande is valued at nearer £86m by Liverpool and that has been communicated to Leipzig.

Hard to believe a 14m gap can't be bridged. But weirder things have happened of course.

Importantly Leipzig didn't say that Diomande is not for sale so its a matter matching their price now.

Liverpool have reignited their interest in 25-year-old Juventus and France midfielder Khephren Thuram. (Corriere dello Sport via Football Talk)

The Reds are also pursuing a central midfielder, centre-back and right-back after triggering 22-year-old Osasuna and Spain winger Victor Munoz's 40m euro (£34.5m) release clause. (Football Insider)

    Can we sign a midfielder?

not sure what the point a handful of forwards is if we only have a few midfielders to get them the ball.
