Listening to radio feed, they mentioned other scores during the broadcast.

    Cheers.

    Well done, Eddie!

Looks like he gave up a penalty before he scored according to the link above.

It's amazing to me how Eddie Lewis gets such little respect on these boards. How many other U.S. field players, past or present, have played as well in England?

Don'y forget Marcus H, RRussell and the wonderfull story that is Jay Demerit.

Of course BC can rack up 100 posts for playing the final 6 minutes of a match.
He may truely be our first modern day over hyped MLS player.

Hey, we are catching up to Europe in some regards!!!

Does Lewis ever have a bad match? Of course he does but, still Lewis usually has a good match like every time he plays. Lewis should be in the Premiership by next year.Lewis is a good player and already should be at a Premiership club.

I don't know if I agree. I think Eddie is at his proper water level. He is a good, at time very good Coca-Cola player....but at Premiership level, I think he'd be mostly a sub. Maybe he could start for a bottom table side.

I think if Eddie stays at Preston, and somehow could help them to promotion in next 2 years, he'd be a God among the Preston faithful.....of course, if someone waves the bucks, he'd go Premiership...but at 30, likely that ship has sailed...

I think he is useful backup to Beasley on the left for the Nats...if none of the younger kids can push him out by next WC...with a twin-tower McBride/Casey possible, he could be even more valuable on the left (crosses)...

Eddie Lewis has the best shot of anyone (save Mathis on his good days) currently in the USMNT midfield mix. He is also one of our few "true" wide players. As such he is and will continue to be a valuable asset.

There are also a few prem clubs that could use him, but it would have to be the right club. Hell, he couldn't do much worse than the current choices on the left at Man City. Macmanananananan who?

Maybe we don't talk about Lewis as much because he doesn't have unbelievably persistent detractors. He's pretty obviously one of the Nats' first-choice subs these days, and it's not too controversial. No one complains when he's not in the starting lineup, but no one complains when he's on the bench, either, because he's a very useful bench player.

I would daresay he's the best crosser of the ball the USA has as this time. And he also has a good work rate, good pace (not DMB or Landon speed, but probably a notch below; he's definitely not slow) and can play very good, insightful passes. If it weren't for DMB he'd start every game.

Unfortunately, I've given out too much rep in the last 24 hours.

Man, is this a classic case of a subconscious mancrush being deflected into hatred for the love object, or what?

I think Cherundolo may be as good as Eddie but The Bruce ensures that we'll never know for sure by not playing either of these guys enough!

I think that he's not the subject of hundreds of posts for two reasons. 1) he's stuck in and plays every game. Not much to speculate about in terms of his playing time, which is always a favorite topic here. 2) I think we all know that, if he's not totally maxed out in terms of how high he can go, he's pretty close. I think he's a solid div 1 player, a few think he can contribute to a lower table premiership team. Maybe, but the range of opinion about him is not as great as Convey ("he'll be a star" or "he sucks") but clearly he's younger and has more potential, no matter how remote, more potential up side than Lewis.

I don't think that the lack of posts on Preston threads is a sign of disrespect nor an opinion about his quality vis a vis anybody else.

OK, let's stir something up then, if ever so slightly.

Eddie Lewis for a USMNT leftside wing-back?

At least, this would keep Boca inside.

Eddie's forte is going forward and whipping in crosses... not playing defense.

I'm all for getting the best players on the field, but I don't think I'm ready for another attempt at moving a midfielder to a back just because he's good going forward.

I just haven't seen the defensive skills from Eddie to suggest this move.

Wingback, sure, he played that in SoKo. But not fullback. Even Convey would be better there.

Eddie also played it at Preston (though, honestly, I don't think Convey is better than Lewis anywhere) and that was behind my suggestion to move him to wing-back.

As much as a love Eddie's play he'll always be second choice because of Beasley. Lewis is a much better crosser but DMB's intangibles (speed, defense, and his ability to draw fouls in the attacking 3rd) out weigh what eddie brings to the table. As far as PNE goes he's "steady" Eddie. He can't do much wrong for them and always seems to come up big. Their faithful love him and they know that he's vital to their squad. Eddie could be a mid-level EPL player but I think his loyalty to PNE is pretty strong, so my bet is that unless he's guaranteed 90 minutes every game he'll stay at PNE.
