God, I watched that one last week and forgot all about it. That was him, wasn't it? This goal was a little longer and out of nowhere. I thought. this time he was dead center, way out, one touch to settle, ball bounces a little, he nailed it with the outside of the boot and it slicesdown and to the right.
McFadden wasn't it? Gossip has it that Billy was after him in the transfer window - hell we were after anyone that would come here! lol!
McFadden it was. Thanks to both of you for the correction. I think this was a better goal, though that was a bigger one. Looking at it again and again, it was dipped down and to the right, and went in higher up than I'd thought. Over the keeper, who was stranded a bit off his line. Anyone link the mcfadden goal?
Second half is one. Announcers are on about how castle were the better team, which they probably were, but they were never dangerous. Derby are on and ataccking, Lewis called for taking somone down int he box, as he's fighting for the ball (he was in the attacking, not defending, box).
How many Italian players compete for their position every day? They beat France in the final. How many French players had to compete for their position every day? You're like the Pez dispenser of thoughtless cliches today.
Lewis knocks in a corner, finds someone's head (miller, maybe, or, maybe, mcfadden) but it's send wide. Derby are forcing the game here, and castle seem unsettled. though, as I typelhere they come...cleared but right back in, twice.
Fantastic! All I had to do was click and I'm watching the match. I didn't need to download a bunch of programs or get a computer programming degree.
Derby win a free kick in a very nice spot, 23 out, to the right sideabove the box. Cross is lofted, derby player almost gets a head on it, but no, ball is sent back in from the left, bounced around until a handball - heading out - called. 53, still 1-0.
Really? So if Henry had a bad two days at practice, Wenger would've sat him? Zidane was a lackluster training session from sitting on the bench? Hmmm. My point is, the teams that win world cups have 20 or more players on their roster who are good enough that they AREN'T competing for their job in practice every day. Sorta like Landon, now that I think about it.
Players like zidane and henry are famous for their practice work ethic, however. I agree, the very top players are pre-printed, but they all fight their way, in practice and games, to reach that point. And it doesn't take that long of a bad spell for them to drift out of the spotlight. [edit to add] so they're pre-printed not because they're stars, they're stars because they work harder and play better than everyone else.
I concur-- in this hyper-competitive world, talent alone doesn't cut it anywhere (except in the movies). The biggest stars tend to be among the harder workers.
Taylor gets off a hard shot, but high. Taylor is a heck of a player. derby in a bit of a lull here. Lewis gets a cross in, but over everyone. Again, here come castle...nothing, and derby go just wide, griffin from long range, skipping along the ground.
