If you are a season ticket holder for 2025 you should have received an e-mail telling you not to participate in what Goodsport posted.

"Please note that on Thursday, November 21, FIFA and On Location will announce and launch a Priority Access Deposit program that gives the general public an opportunity to reserve a spot in line to purchase FIFA World Cup 26™ Official Hospitality packages. Because you are a member of the San Jose Earthquakes 2025 Season Ticket Holders, you WILL NOT participate in this program given you will be able to purchase in the previously mentioned exclusive window PRIOR to the general public, directly from your team representative."

Yes we got that email, and were quite confused by it.
But FYI everyone, if you go to On Solution, the supposedly refundable deposit is $500 per person.

How much does SC still owe on Levi's? and did they ever get those soccer fields back that were near the stadium?

If Levi’s falls through, maybe they can put a rush job and expand PayPal by another 30k seats?

    Then again, maybe not….

Well, thinking about the Super Bowl there -- that was a huge opportunity for SF to cash in. SC, not so much.

Although it was a different time, thinking back to 1994, I can't recall who made money off the World Cup games at Stanford.

I recall the city of Los Gatos had constant daily and nightly parties with Brazilian fans infiltrating the town, parading up and down.

Willow Street and Round Table Pizza , Alex Sports Shop , all the bars , restaurants and many stores made a killing because the Brazilian National Team stayed at Villa Felice and their fans cheering them on in support.

I also believe downtown Palo Alto as well as the University benefitted from the games but not sure what attractions Santa Clara will have other than Great America and Valley Fair- Santana Row.

I am betting the teams will be staying at Santana Row’s Valencia Hotel.

I read recently EL Paseo is going to construct something similar to SR but I doubt it will be ready by 2026…

If you've eaten the food at Levi's I think you'd change that "Mmm" to "Blech". OTOH, they make up for selling you a half-dozen cold chicken nuggets by charging you $17 for them... :cautious:

Candlestick use to let us bring in our own food and drinks to Giants games but I heard Levi’s won’t allow any outside food into the stadium.

You could bring your own kegs into the War Memorial Stadium in Buffalo for Bills games in the 1960s. :)

I was just a kid but many people smoked cigs and joints at Quakes games in the 1970’s and early 80’s.

Most people brought their own food into Spartan Stadium after tailgating at back lot on 10th Street.

    What a time we had!

AFAIK that persisted into the 90s with the inception of MLS. And I’ve never worked a Mexican game at any venue where I didn’t end up with a contact high!

U.S. Soccer is committed to bringing the 2031 Women’s World Cup to the United States and Mexico. FIFA is looking into expanding the Women’s tournament to 48 teams in 2031

"As soon as they do, we'll put our bid in," Cone said during an appearance at the United Soccer Coaches Convention.

"And we're going to win it.

FIFA has not said when the bidding process will begin or when the 2031 tournament would be awarded. While the site of the men's tournament is typically announced at least seven years in advance, FIFA did not select Brazil to host the 2027 women's World Cup until last May. Australia and New Zealand, which co-hosted the tournament in 2023, was not announced until 2020.

But FIFA reportedly wants to expand the World Cup in 2031 so it's the same size as the men's tournament, 48 teams, which could mean it will give the host more time to get ready.

Having the first 48-team women's tournament in the United States and Mexico would be fitting, U.S. Soccer CEO J.T. Batson said, because the two countries and Canada are hosting the first expanded men's tournament next summer. The same venues that are being used for 2026 would be used for 2031, Cone and Batson said.
