Seriously, why do you folks think there haven't been any large anti-war rallies in Kabul?

Lack of information, focusing on rebuilding there country, suspicion of what may happen to them if they do...just think out loud here...I don't really claim to know.

    Is that a pro-war or anti-war rally? I can't tell.

There's only three of them. That doesn't count as a rally. If they had a fourth they could at least play bridge.

I'd put it down to their lack of movie stars desperate to fill the void in their meaningless existance. And considering young men have been expected to fight in some war or another for the last 100 generations, they probably also have a shortage of bored college students.

    Why

Too much fear among the protesters of accidently treading on land mines or unexploded cluster bomb canisters.

b/c all the chicks over there wear head garb and full clothing. its not like here where you get to glance at all the anti-war sluts in their little apron shirts and patched cordury skirts.

probably because people were too busy running for safety and shelter.

Seriously, unless you've lived through a bombing campaign (which I assuming you haven't), do not take the liberty to make comments and assumptions about what these people have to go through or have been through. That is something you will never understand unless you are in their shoes. It is disrespectful and ignorant (in same ways that you get all fired up when people disrespect 9/11 victims) to make comments from the safety of your suburban cocoon or your college dorm on the behalf of people who have been affected by this terrorism.

Survival comes before protest when bombs are being dropped, though there are many who act in defiance regardless. As long as the media is in the pocket of the war-makers, no one will ever know the truth about what the hell went on over there.

That is something you can never understand or even imagine unless you are a civilian living in such a situation.

    Do not disrespect innocent lives.

Perhaps...I don't really buy (no pun intended) the economic issues, since there have been plenty of anti-war rallies in countries like Bangladesh that aren't that much better off than Afghanistan.

Probably the same reason there haven't been any huge pro-war rallies in the US...no reason to protest for the status quo.

I'm not asking why they weren't protesting when we were actually bombing Afghanistan, I'm asking why they aren't protesting against a war in Iraq now like people are in most other Muslim countries.

US taking out Al Qaeda was terrorism?? You're a nutjob.

Except we aren't still bombing them.

We know that they welcomed our troops with open arms.

    hmmm, lets see...

a large massing of people in a public space in Afghanistan...

that's not a good target for a car bomb at all...

    ok, enough sarcasm.

these people are trying to get their lives back together and there is serious risk of getting killed if they show up in public.

this isn't paris, hamburg, london, or washington. there are still many people in that country intent on a civil war and returning the Taliban to power. gathering in mass is a stupid idea.

    mods, close this thread

Oh come on, SFM. Isn't it just precious how young Alex thinks he has defeated all opposition to Bush's war by posting a rhetorical question whose correct answers don't support his intended point? It's so cute. Like a puppy falling over while it attacks a stray sock.

A reasonable point, but it's hardly as if all Afghans are staying indoors. If I was a Taliban supporter, I'd sooner bomb, say, a marketplace than a protest against war in Iraq.

Why, because you disagree with it??
