Not Ginni - Binni as in Netanyahu - I know we've all moved on from the IDF playing whackamole with anyone too swarthy over there - but our "far left" really thinks the America is somehow more than marginally culpable and magically able to stop the IDF from murdering people? That ship sailed long ago when Israel achieved Neighborhood Nuclear Superiority
Kelley has the bonafides and the ability to be VP. Does that mean Kari Lake has a shot at winning one of two seats if Kelly becomes the VP? Both seats are up for grabs since Sinema is not running. If Senator Kelly runs to be the VP, the Arizona governor (Dem Hobbs) then selects an appointment. but both Senator seats are vacant and are up for election this year. Does anyone know how this plays out in the Arizona process of selecting Senators?
You're right. Of course, in a better country we don't just don't get Trump- we don't get Nixon, Reagan, Dubya or his father, either.
I'm staying out of that thread. Criticizing Netanyahu under a username tied to your email and potentially other accounts is a fool's errand. But you're right- this gives him cover, because the world is looking at Kamala and Donald right now.
Dude, please don't go there. First JD Vance kids are the products of a white guy and an Indian woman. Kamala's parents are Indian and black (Jamaican). Do you se the difference? I helped you there. Second she identifies as black as a result, the best thing to do is to accept and respect this. By the way, this is something black people face often, particularly those of mixed races or light skin. It is truly uncomfortable to hear comments like "you do not look black" or "You look different" etc... I have heard it quite often myself since I am part of the light complexion brigade and it is ********ing tiring!
I don't know any of the candidates well, but looking at it superficially, if we want to beat Trump, and we are looking for somebody who might appeal to independents, conservatives, Republicans, Christians, white males, and in general potential voters who mistrust the left but don't care much for Trump either, I think Beshear would be a logical pragmatic choice.
Do people really seriously consider VP candidates when voting? I’m hard pressed to remember losing VP candidates once the election is over.
He's another great choice. Balancing a former Senator from California with a governor from Kentucky is exactly the sort of balance conventional wisdom and tradition would suggest.
In spite of what I just posted above--that has been my thinking. I think national politics have moved so firmly into the realm of culture-war issues and ideological thinking that the traditional metrics of balancing the ticket regionally might be anachronistic. But that's a theory which can only be tested in practice, and I recognize that when we're facing a fascist opponent, this may not be the time for bold innovation. (...but maybe it is?)
I kind of understand why, and I think you probably will if you give it some thought. My yellow star is visible, but his will get him in slightly more trouble than mine will, depending on who's in the parking lot when he leaves with a SO or who pulls me over on/runs me off the road at night. If I were 40 years younger, I'd leave just to be able to support a club in a proper league. Anywhere there's jazz and football, and enough black people that I can commiserate with them when race becomes an issue. Look at it like this- if you were living in any of the places he'd choose to relocate to when this shit popped off in America, would you come here? Leaving is really just a matter of overcoming one's personal inertia.
The Harris campaign has requested vetting materials from the following potential vice presidential nominee picks, according to NBC News: North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz I am surprised Beshear is not on the list. I rate him highly. Whitmer already said she will stay in Michigan. At this point, it has to be between Kelly and Shapiro. Both solid choices.
Palin didn't hurt McCain IMO, because he was not going to win no matter who he chose. McCain was running as a statesman against a Rock Star statesman. He was Mondale without the Former Veep cred. He was Dole, Romney, GHWB (who doesn't win without being the Veep IMO).
McCain wasn’t going to win regardless, but yes, in a close election a bad VP pick could make a difference.
I know he would have lost but his campaign basically sucked and come a laughing stock the minute Palin had the Katie Couric interview....Lieberman would have make the race a bit more competitive if Mc Cain had picked him (as he wanted).
I just don't think that "independents, conservatives, Republicans, Christians, white males, and in general potential voters who mistrust the left but don't care much for Trump either" is a real category that the Dems can attract. Is this election about appealing to the "middle," or energizing the base? Beshear won't put Kentucky in play, and I have concerns he'd not do much to energize the base. As much as I'd personally like Pete, Kelly is impressive. Military background, gun safety, makes Arizona an easier win for Dems. I wonder, too, if he being from a border state might help in an election where Trump and Vance will talk incessantly about immigration.
