Plus, Germany/England round of 16 would be awesome.

Them scoring a touchdown in this one is the best possib le result.

Opens up the chances that Australia faces us plus it clearl moves Germany into 1st.

if you want nothing to do with them you need to hope they LOSE!

if they lose they are out and there is NO chance that the US will face then. and with a lucky break and Australia winning over Serbia it would mean that the US face Australia.

And if they win, we can't play them till the final, which, I have no problem with.

If they lose, we could have to play them in the round of 16.

no. if they lose the are out of the tournament. period. do the math. they would have 3 points and any result from Serbia v Australia would have one team with more than 3 points. A Serbia win gives them 6. A Australia win gives them 4. A draw gives Serbia 4. all of which would put Germany out.

    math is fun.

and if they win we also have no hope at all of facing Australia should some miracle occur and they beat Serbia because of goal difference.

    So I realized.

But they aren't going to lose, so lets have them win.

True but if they are trailing 1-0 there is always the chance they tie it and get second in the gorup. I'd rather not risk it. Score early and often please.

just like the couldn't lose to Serbia? :D

i am going to hope for the best outcome for the US. and that is facing the weakest team, Australia, in the round of 16. to have that happen Germany needs to lose first so that is what i am pulling for.

if it isn't likely and doesn't happen then so be it. but i am going to root for the best outcome for the US and playing Australia would be the best outcome for the US.

Win or lose, Germany won't be playing us.

If they tie, then we play Germany only if Australia gets a result from Serbia.

so. does germany just waste time until the last minute of play and then put it in their own net so they come in second and avoid england?

whew. Australia really tried to give that away and make the US face Germany.
