The Gideons! That's a great band name- double bill with The Motels!

Martha Davis and co. had three hits and I loved every one of 'em. Y'all have any idea how few bands I can make that claim about? If your band has multiple hits, there's a great chance one of them will make me change the station.

The last surviving principal of my firm has a band with a top 40 hit from the early 60's with his band that included the local / regional furniture mogul

What's the hit? I might know it. 60s (instead of 70s) says probably not, but it's worth an ask

How is Creed as a boss? Many people doubted his managerial abilities but I never did

And with that I'll mention that Sting is now 73 years old (birthday was October 2nd).

Yeah, saw that yesterday. Summers is 81, Copeland 72.

If you live long enough, your heroes will grow old and die. I respect Sting for going solo with less edgy (love that word. It's so full of shit I feel like a child for using it as an adult) music, not dragging the Police into their geriatric years. No matter how well they play, I'm just not as hyped to hear them as I was when I was 19. Rock is for people who are rich enough or young/lazy enough that they can go hair of the dog on a Wednesday morning because they overdid Tuesday night.

I remember in HS a girl saying she liked Sting's solo crap better than The Police and the lunch table fell out laughing

Y'know what? I'll admit that I like the Police better than solo Sting. But I know you can't grasp the latter. You and your Joisey pals did the only thing you know how to do when presented with something you can't address- you laughed.

See, now you got me re-imagining Clint's voice!

"So, youse gunna pull out da heat or whistle da Bwosstones*?"

"Mr, Bulger, I never took you for a loafah"
    "A loofah?"
"No, a loafah, It's eighteen eighty-foah. We got no loofahs yet. You're a loafah"
    <starts to spit, but swallows>

*Now there's a band that can play their asses off, but God, do they grate.

I didn't get all the way thru that one. I loved Seven Days, which they did on the live Soul Cages tour with Vinnie Colaiuta on drums, David Sancious on keys and Dominic Miller on guitar. Vinnie is a total badass, can ape Stewart, which is probably Sting trying to poke Stew in the eye (he can't. Stewart Copeland plays rings around Sting), and I'd call him the best drummer rock's ever had, but he's not really a rock drummer. That's still Stewart. Vinnie's just too good to be called a rocker anymore, dgaf who he plays with.

Meh, I don't recall doing much of that. Too busy practicing or studying, or helping folks with something or another.

    Not sure why they "grate"

This one's far better than anything self-absorbed Solo Sting ever crapped out
