middle tenn just score so now it's 42-51 against the #8 team...I don't think that ESPN will cut to the MLS game with an upset in the making...
Pretty sure ESPN's policy is to never leave a game in progress. Could be wrong. I can recall missing the first few minutes of Iowa games over the years while we were treated to the thrilling finishes of games long decided. But I'm pretty sure that's just standard policy.
Why does college football stop the clock for everything? I think they have tv timeouts, they stop the clock on 1st downs, when the ball goes out of bounds, bathroom breaks, I think there was a break to let the kids watch the 3rd quarter of the NFL game on NBC, a break to download porn, more tv timeouts and each team is awarded a bonus timeout if they don't play any defense (both teams have been awarded an extra timeout in this game).
Yep, for the most part they don't leave early. I remember having to watch BYU football getting blown out by Hawaii while NC State was pulling off an upset vs #9 Syracuse in basketball. They finally switched when there were about 6 minutes left in the first half of the basketball game.
exactly what i was talking about earlier, damn WBNA and NCAA football both scheduled before the MLS game.....WTF!!!!!!!
I don't know. I have realized that if I want to see a soccer, or basketball game that comes on right after a football game, to expect to miss the first 10 minutes at least.
The average college game lasted 3:06 last year. They changed the rules back to more like 2005 (where the average game was about 3:20.) So 3:30 is a tight fit but not unreasonable. On Saturdays, they have games in 3:30 intervals and it's usually no problem. This game is just really high-scoring.
hey maybe they can squeeze college football live in there somewhere, hey its only soccer, everyone loves college football, i have college football on like 6 other channels here in NYC. i am sure everyone of those games is getting higher ratings than MLS. but why i don;t know! i hate football , i tried watching some of that colts game to see what the hype is about, but i just don't get it.
Now there's 8 minutes left, which translates to about 45 minutes in real time. I'm guessing we won't get Chivas-DC until about the start of the 2nd half. And if the gridiron game goes to overtime... (ok don't stone me) I don't have a problem with them sticking with a live game in progress. At least they're consistent and do it in the playoffs when MLS games go to extra time. But you think they could switch the game temporarily to one of the 34 other ESPN channels. ESPN Classics is showing one of their Don't Blame shows.
I love football but it lacks the passion of soccer because of how drawn out the game is....at least I'm getting tons of fantasy points with the colts right now!!
Who watches this college crap and keeps it on the air. I swear if you follow college football you are a degenerate or mentally defective. Don't give me that Im an alumni of PoDunk U either. Middle Tennessee is on? Where is that? OMG I'm freaking out. PS> I don't really think you are a degenerate but you are contributing to my angst.
Re: Who watches this college crap and keeps it on the air. agreed!! 4 mins left = 30 mins in football time
...this is so annoying. I was really looking forward to the matchup, but I hate not seeing it from the start
At least they're running the ball now to kill the clock. 3 minutes left..game should be on in an hour.
Re: Who watches this college crap and keeps it on the air. lol, yeah! and who cares about these schools when two MLS powerhouses are playing? I can't believe how excited I was about DC v. CHV all day just to see college football on. *sigh* it's that time of year again
