SUPPLEMENTAL: Watch a video of a Maradona game, any game - note the first touch. Ball control = 1st touch A good 1st touch = time Time = composure A player is only as good as their 1st touch (wot ever level you play).

SUPPLEMENTAL: Funny, but you need to LOVE the ball before you can kill it! This ties in with the 1st touch - one sure method for developing a torrid love affair with the ball is free-styling, watch Ronaldinho he's passionately involved with the ball - it isn't about tricks but feeling the ball and being comfortable with it any where around the body - pure love. Now that you're in control of the ball the next thing that needs to be developed is wide a range of passing, long, short, chips, dinks, bends, curls all with the correct weight (and not just with the feet), wot does this go back to?...that's right TOUCH, there's no getting away from it - if you can't pass a ball you're no good to any team regardless of dribbling skills etc...of course you need vision to be able to find teammates in good positions so unless you've eyes like a fish try to keep the head up like a pass master. To practice all you need is a wall and some imagination. Develop control and passing to a good level and coaches will notice you. Get out your Maradona video again and this time watch the range of passes, the weight of the pass and where the ball is passed ie to the person or in space.
