http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm...&u=/nm/20040213/en_nm/leisure_canada_conan_dc Is there some law that says you can't be a lawmaker if you understand satire? Still. It's good to see Middle America and the FCC don't have a monopoly on misdirected righteous indignation.
It's important to put this in the context of Don Cherry's comments about Quebecois being soft. So the issue is a little sensitive right now, plus the government gave the show money. To me that's the only reason it's an issue to the government. If there hadn't been Ontario tax dollars used to bring a show to Canada to call Quebeckers queer, don't think anyone would care. Personally I don't care, I didn't find it funny (why do Americans make the same tired French jokes at the expense of the Quebecois?), but I certainly wasn't offended. I like Conan, but I've been a little disappointed in the shows up here. Not as bad as the Simpsons trip north mind you. I don't think this will be an issue outside of parliament and then it's only an issue because the opposition feels like getting on the Liberals. cheers, hobbes
It's a joke you see.... "See, you're French, AND you're Canadian. So, you're obnoxious, AND dull." God, I love Triumph.
Hand puppets can be such nuisances: Triumph the Insult Comic Dog has landed in trouble before If you think Conan is harsh on the frogs, you should see what they say up in Maine about them!
Re: It's a joke you see.... Yeah, Triumph rocks. Does anybody know about the dustup between Triumph and Eminem?
Triumph- Will it be a boy or girl? Pregnant Star Wars fan- Boy. Triumph- Well, that'll be the first and last time he ever sees female genitallia.
