Well Grace Geyoro who captains PSG could be a good choice, or Eve Perisset, or Marion Torrent or Charlotte Bilbault or Sakina Karchaoui or Marie-Antoinette Katoto. There is genuinely no one who exudes super leadership quality, no Paul Pogba in the women team.

Not a great performance in Slovenia with a 90+4 winning penalty. Referee had given a debatable penalty to Slovenia on 88'.

They defend very well and are excellent on the break. Our players were not good enough on the ball and not tactically intelligent enough.

You have to say Henry instead of Bilbault would have made a difference. Not sure Hamraoui would have.

Renard was unavaible due to injury. De Almeida made an error for the first Slovenian goal.

Big interview with the coach Corinne Diacre in L'equipe today:

Team spirit is getting better. They obviously had some up and downs, more downs than up. Climate appeasement is not someting she is trying to do. She denies creating the problems (!) Says her target is to reach the Euro final.

She said she has come closer to the team while she was keeping her distances before. There are few things about giving Renard the captaincy back.
Clear comment on having no confidence in Henry being the captain following the player's interview on Canal plus. Journos asked why some players are selected ahead of Henry, they also asked about the Le Sommer.

Both are available for selection but if you read between the line she says she building up a younger squad, so those two are not coming back.

There are also a few words about individual players who failed to perform at the WC and that's why newbies are called in.

Overall, it is obvious she has a clear line of management and many are excluded for good.

I’m hoping Le Sommer would stay with OL Reign in long term.

Majri out for the season with an ACL injury, it is actually a double injury on her left knee: rupture du ligament croisé antérieur et du ligament latéral externe du genou gauche

Will Corinne Diacre have to eat her hat and get Le Sommer back or will she carry on calling younger players?

Majri could be back in June depending on her rehab, but with no playing time, do you take someone to the Euros?

No other French player can step up or take her spot?

With her experience level nope. But there are many wingers available of course. Good enough for international football not many.

Here are the forwards called up by Corinne Diacre in alphabatical order in the last two seasons, I have ranked them out of 5

    Asseyi 4, Baltimore 4, Bussy 2, Cascarino 4, Diani 5, Fleury 3, Gauvin 4, Katoto 5
    Laurent 3, Le Sommer 4, Malard 4, Mateo 3, Sarr 3.

We have two very good forwards Diani and Katoto, a lot of good ones and many many average forwards basically.

Just when she had been finally called back in NT, after so many had wondered why she hadn't been for years! :x3:

    11-0 against Estonia.

Milestone achieved as Dali who scored the final goal scored goal #1000 in 466 games in 50 years. First game was back in 1971.

Squad for the next two qualifiers v Kazakhstan and Wales.

Sakina Karchaoui is out with an ankle injury. First call up for Selma Bacha from Lyon to replace her.
Expectation were high for her back when she burst into the scene at 17 years old and played in the Champions league final.
But her improvement have been slowed down by injuries and average performances.
That's why Lyon kept buying experienced left-back every season to wait until she is ready. And now Bompastor plays her as a winger.

Bacha is great little player. Shows great versatility. Exerts great energy. A spark plug for the team. Not only has she been playing in the back, but as you mentioned winger as well. She also has been taking a lot of the corner kicks and free kicks this season. She leads the team in assists with 6.

I think having a coach who was fantastic left-back has improved her greatly this season.

France beat Kazakhstan 6-0 yesterday, while the U20 team beat Germany 2-1 and the U19 team beat Belgium 2-1 too.
it is interesting to note that the U20 team that is preparing for the WWC has taken over the best U19 players and therefore weakened the U19 preparing to the Euro round 2 qualifiers. It makes sense to do so.

I find incredibile that they couldn't find the actual perpetrators yet: they would obviously be the key of the investigation.

I think Abidal's wife is going to get interrogated by the police at some point. So we might get something soon?

There's no team that has the forward depth of France, that's for sure. It's nice to have, but at the end of the day the two/three on the field have to perform or depth means nothing!

The NYTimes story on the case makes no mention of Abidal's wife or of police interviewing the wife, and that is strange given that the attackers were heard by both women in the car making comments about the victim sleeping with a married man. Logically, Abidal's wife would be the chief person of interest. She, more than anybody, would have motive to hurt her husband's mistress.

I wonder why (judging by the NYTimes report itself) Hamroui insisted about the potential involvement of some of her team-mates: it was just a move to take attention off her alleged relationship with Abidal (or with any other man)? o_O Or are there really some tense relationships inside the team and/or she didn't feel welcome since her comeback from Barcelona? :cautious: It's quite interesting that, despite the fact that she undoubtedly is the victim here, it looks like a lot of her team-mates don't want to have anything to do with her (at least according to the report): just a "we want no trouble" kind of statement or is there more to it?

One thing's for certain: she didn't hit herself with an iron-bar, so there must necessarily be someone, among her entourage (by that meaning everyone who's somehow, even indirectly, related with her), who is not innocent.

The NYT are usually very accurate with their sources but who knows, maybe they were played by some of the informants. They look down on yellow journalism but publishing that bit about players not wanting a locker near her is right off the front page of a tabloid playbook. Cheap.

    TODAY
    Servette 33-1 to beat Wolfsburg
    Zhytlobud 27-1 to beat PSG
    Breidablik 12-1 to beat Madrid
    Juventus 10-1 to beat Chelsea

    TOMORROW
    Hacken 20-1 to beat Bayern
    Benefica 18-1 to beat Lyon
    Koge 10-1 to beat Hoffenheim
    Arsenal 7-1 to beat Barcelona

The NYT story is co-written by Romain Molina who is well known as an investigation journalist. the Haiti FA girls rape scandal is his work and also on many African teams in football and also basketball, plus the story in Mongolia etc...

Typical for the NYT. But if he was Charles Dickens or Mother Theresa it doesn't change anything. He went offside.
