It means that was Henry's last hurrah. We might see a wave of retirement by January/February 2021 or the coach being sacked when the FFF new president is in place.
BONNE ANNÉE à tout le monde, uh, for 11 days ago. And it was a special new year for Wendie Renard, who was namechecked in the annual presidential message. My French comprehension isn't what it used to be, but I believe Macron has named her as an example of someone who would make a better president than him! (He's also refusing to stand down and has the FFF's full support.) An interesting development is one of candidates Michel Moulin has said that if elected he would force Didier Deschamps to select Karim Benzema who is currently blacklisted and will go on trial soon for allegedly helping in blackmailing a former team-mate Matthieu Valbuena. If he does the same with Diacre, we might see both NT managers resigning in a few months time.

France u23 also have a training camp and they will play a friendly against EAG Guingamp like the U19 team did in the previous international window.
Squad down to 23 now with Dufour out due to a muscle problem and Le Sommer tested positive to Covid-19 and must isolate.
France v Switzerland tonight. No Waelti, Maritz, Gut and Lehmann for the Swiss as the four England based player went home after a few training days in Zurich due to Covid-19 travel regulations.
The squad will be named on the 1st of April, so there will be a lot of April fool's jokes on the day.

Renard, Majri, Cascarino, M'Bock Bathy (injured but also tested positive) and another one. OL revealed today they have 10 cases between the players and staff. One of the positive case is the OL women doctor. Mateo from Paris FC misses out due to cases at her club.
Henry and Karchaoui from OL tested positive for Covid-19 and therefore not coming as well as Julie Dufour from Bordeaux who has a calf injury. Oceane Deslandes ( new) and Louise Fleury are replacing all those players. Gardiennes : Solène Durand (Guigamp), Pauline Peyraud-Magnin (Atletico Madrid), Constance Picaud (Havre AC) Défenseures : Estelle Cascarino (Bordeaux), Elisa de Almeida (Montpellier), Océane Deslandes (Stade de Reims), Grace Kazadi (Atlético Madrid/ESP), Perle Morroni (Paris SG), Eve Périsset (Bordeaux), Julie Thibaud (Bordeaux), Marion Torrent (Montpellier), Aissatou Tounkara (Atletico Madrid) Milieux : Kenza Dali (West Ham), Grace Geyoro (Paris SG), Inès Jaurena (Bordeaux), Oriane Jean-François (Paris FC), Léa Khélifi (Dijon), Ella Palis (Bordeaux) Attaquantes : Viviane Asseyi (Bayern Munich/ALL), Sandy Baltimore (Paris SG), Kadidiatou Diani (Paris SG), Louise Fleury (EA Guingamp), Valérie Gauvin (Everton/ANG), Marie-Antoinette Katoto (Paris SG), Eugénie Le Sommer (Lyon)
What an amazing selection and how exciting is that! Wow. Remember Canada had something similar and almost jammed the U.S. with Vanessa Gilles of Bordeaux considered by most as player of the game. At the end of the day these matches mean nothing but for ranking points. Being able to widen the pool, give deserving players and young players a sniff, making a team bigger than the same usual suspects that have owned placement and made things a carbon copy time and time again. How could anyone not love watching these matches? Even if they are handily dismissed and put down, so what. Some new players will hold their own and reveal themselves against the best.
Diacre might lose her job if the we lose both games. When all the key players were rebelling the FFF president said he kept her in the job because the results were there and she has not lost a game since the WC. two defeats might see her gone.
...well, the U.S. players say things like "we could have won without a coach", which is just delusional. Pity the poor one who has to manage them. Even sans Lyon, France v England should be an interesting match this Friday. I suspect France-USA will be an abomination, but ho-hum.
Who were they referring to winning without a coach? For a lot of CONCACAF that's just basic math. Everyone thought it would be an abomination when the USA played the Canada without players covid-stranded, clubs not releasing and significant late injuries. Turned out to be a hell of a game - and Canada hasn't beat the USA in 20 years despite playing them all the time because they share the longest common border in the world. I think the game is professionalizing. The bench players are better than in the past and teams are more organized defensively and harder to break down. In men's football the top few ranked international teams are not guaranteed of even beating teams much farther down in the ranking. In women's football that has always been the case but I think the times are changing.
@law10 - No, they weren't referring to Concacaf or Canada, and if you don't mind, I'd rather drop it as I find it quite depressing. (And it's meant to be France's topic.) France are back in training camp, and I know for sure that they would lose without a goalkeeping coach! And we wouldn't have this cool video of the different ways they train - kinda makes me want to be a goalie. For a few minutes, anyway.
