An exceptional finisher, I was lucky to see her play for us in the early 2000's when the football was purely amateur in France and a few players were in the US or Germany to play professional football.

Herve Renard will give a long list for the World Cup on 6 June.
France will play two pre-world cup friendlies Ireland away 6 July and Australia away 14 July.

Delphine Cascarino and Kessya Bussy are both out of the tournament due to injury.
Marie-Antoinette Katoto has still not recovered from her Euros injury, and Le Parisien has today reported that she won't be fit and PSG would not be happy to see her go to the World Cup.
Griedge M'Bock Bathy is apparently also not fit and further down the line that Katoto.

What about Diani? Is she ok? She looks like France's top-profile player at this point.

Herve Renard will give a 26 players list tomorrow with four goalkeepers and 22 outfielders.
Three of those players will be removed from the squad before the Ireland friendly on the 6th of July.

Clever, well done. Any surprises, in your view? I continue to be surprised at the exclusion of Hamraoui from the French squad. Is it a personality thing or do the coaches just not rate her as highly as I always have. I assume not!

It is a sporting choice alongside a personality choice.

Two young forwards called up Feller from Real Madrid and Becho from Lyon rather than Baltimore or Malard. Tounkara is in the 26 but unlikely to be in the 23 as per the press conference.

Katoto, Cascarino D and M'Bock being injured has hurt the team a lot.

One interesting point, the third goalie selected might get on the pitch if we get a penalty-shootout. That's what the coach hinted at yesterday at the press conference. I asked him about high press on the pitch and build up play and he had a good answer.

Oriane Jean-Francois is not in the 23, forfeit, injured few days ago during training. It s obviously not a good news for Les Bleues. H.Renard wanted keep her, she did a very good season at PSG and is likely the best french DM except when A. Henry is 100% fit. Now there is only one number 6 in the team even if Geyoro can play this position but it woulf be a shame... Are we going to regret Hamraoui not being called ?
Les bleues have to play 2 friendly matches, tonight against MC Cabe 's stuff, later against Australia. I will buy any results for an healthy team on july 23

Henry is out of the world cup if the MRI today confirms her calf injury problem. Coach told us last night, it was not likely to be a good news.

Question: Do French fans tear their hair out after a loss like to Australia today, criticizing how the wrong players are on the team and the coach is awful, as USA fans would be likely to do? Or are they more philosophical about it? Or is it some of each?

Well, there are tribal factions among the France fans, some will defend their club players and attack the other teams players as responsible for the defeat. The coach is safe because, a huge majority of fans and players hated Diacre, so Renard gets a free just for being the opposite of her.
He also brought back all the players banned by Diacre.

In all seriousness, alarm bells are ringing, but even if there are problems, there is still one week to go. Although the general public not just the women's football fans will want some result because players getting the coach sacked need to show something for it. The coaches have been the main scapegoats for a dozen years now and failure won't be pinned on Renard this time.

    Totally disagree. .
The players who contributed to Diacre being sacked have nothing more to show than if they were still under Diacre coaching : as alarm bells were ringing since 3 years after the 2019 WC, It was the responsability of Noel Le Graet and his minions to tale this decision, they didn't, out of cowardice and because they didn't care. And It 's a shame that players finally felt compelled to publicly speak or adopt some extreme attitude to strongly protest. As it was so easy...
And we effectively can see that trivial reaction_ and i note it's rather from men than women : " ha ok Wendie Renard, u didn't want Diacre as your coach anymore, u want to rule the things and u suceeded, now show us what u are capable of as you mean u are stronger and know better than her..." Soooooo stupid common response !! Generally from those who tend to reduce any conflict between women to a "crepage de chignon" , i don't know how to translate that but itis a very pejorative and sexist expression. So, I don't give much credit to general public's opinion, the world is full of morron people, and even more in the football sphere.

To be fair, if the french NT fails before the semi final, it won't be because of the coach or because of the players (meaning especially Wendie. Renard), but because this team doesn't have the level for. Too depleted and missing key players like Katoto, D.Cascarino, A. Henry, Griedge M Bock and maybe Selma Bacha, with Diani who didn't completely recover from her injury and is not 100% fit, with Majri who struggles to get her 2 years ago level, without enough depth, it's probably the weakest french team since the 2011 WC.

So i don't wait for some miracle. But i can see this WC as a good preparation for the olympics next year
