A big shout-out on Bundesliga.com, along with Reyna, Richards, Hoppe and Scally:

"The Berlin-born defender left Union Berlin in the summer of 2020 to join Dortmund, where he has been knuckling down for the club's U23s. Maloney has played all 90 minutes in 10 of his side’s 13 league fixtures so far in the fourth tier of German football, suffering just one defeat with BVB sat second in the table.

    ....

Honing his craft at the home of Europe's model breeding ground for young footballers, 21-year-old Maloney could be set to make a splash in the near future.

It would be awesome if Maloney could break thru with the senior team by the end of the year. He hasn't even been on my radar... but this is positive news.

He’s playing with BVB II, correct? I believe it’s rare for BVB II to produce players for the top team. BVB promotes from the U19.

Out of 21 RL games this season, Maloney's started 18 and has gone 90' in all but two of those. He was subbed on for the other two, which were the first two games of the season.

He's extremely unlikely to ever play for BVB, but the RL side are one point off top. If they get promoted and he shows well, he could get picked up by a 3 Liga side when his contract expires.

He didn't play today (seems to be an injury), but they earned promotion to 3.Liga today.

The club says he is somewhere in this mix:

still don't see him making 1st.
1-2 Younger CBs are ahead of him and officially part of 1st
2-U17-U19 has numerous promising CBs, already 2 trained with 1st this Summer but due to covid which axed whole season they need to play regularly.

3-a CB/CM is one who got praise by Coach not Maloney. Papadopulous played CB is also same age as Maloney too. Unlike Maloney who was only used in 1 friendly, Papa and Thaqi (another younger) both got used in 2/2.

    Papadopoulos is reminiscent of Papastathopoulos
One who stood out in these duels with a lot of ambition and verve was central defender Antonios Papadopoulos (21). The newcomer to the second team was allowed to play alongside Lennard Maloney in the A-Eleven and, with his uncompromising manner, reminded of the last Dortmund player, who was also called "Papa", the Greek Sokratis Papastathopoulos. "We fought a lot of good duels, but Papa stood out. Gladly more of that," praised Rose. In view of the bottleneck in central defense, the 21-year-old entry from Halleschen FC could still move into the focus of the professional coach.

only II player coach looks to have mentioned/praised directly.

4-him and most II only getting chances due to not all pros accounted and some injury/fitness issues.

5-Maloney should play 3rd Liga than move upwards.

Bad Ragaz is the Millie Vanilli of the German dub scene and you can't convince me otherwise.
