Looks like he's playing RCB in a 3-4-3 - formation experiment. He just narrowly missed a chance to cut out a great pass by Brown at the end of a 30 yard run that slipped through Marmoush for a one time finish.
4-2 defeat as the winless run in the league stretches to 8. In the relegation playoff spot, but still somehow comfortably clear of automatic relegation - 5 points ahead of Kiel.
Anyone have a good summary of this guy. Obviously starting CM in BL but doesn't get much love. Only saw him in the 1 friendly.. defensive CM destroyer type?
Very high effort, big and strong and quick for his size. Good in the air. Intelligent player. Weakness at the Bundesliga or USMNT level is forward passing and ball skills beyond the most conservative ones - he can keep possession but he isn't beating or fooling anyone. You'd love to have him on your team ... unless your team was really good and trying to win titles. Also competent as a backup / emergency CB.
Remember perry kitchen. For some reason he reminds me of him. So no way he surpasses adams/johnny/morris?
More than half of the squad that won promotion 18 months ago is still there and the additions haven't had much impact. Kleindienst's goals not being replaced is a particular problem. Add the Conference League games and their travel to the workload and the limitations of a D2 team playing beyond themselves for 2-3 years are bound to be exposed. There's been some speculation recently about Maloney moving in the summer. If there's a good offer now, they may take it and use the money to refresh the squad over Xmas.
That would be a shocker. He is a Chris Armas type (actually quite similar) and he can't really progress the ball.
He has refused to sign a new contract with Heidenheim. He must really believe in himself and who knows, maybe he will show something more. He was a CB at Dortmund before going to Heidenheim. I believe he even played like 15 minutes for BVB's first team.
He got 2 cups of coffee for a total of 7 minutes. My feeling is that he's seen some BL1-quality players sold, replaced by cheaper mediocrities and has decided to get while the going is good. With a single point in the last 8 games and 20 goals conceded but only 7 scored, he should.
Heidenheim sucks but he seems to be right in the middle in terms of quality. With that said, I would have no objection to Poch bringing him into a camp.
Widely reported that he is in his last year and will not resign. Heidenheim want something so he will move.
For the identity of that better side, I'd look for where his head/#2 coach at Dortmund's reserves is working now or whether Heidenheim have had an assistant coach appointed as head coach somewhere in the summer. The same for their sporting directors. Someone who's already worked with his limitations but has already seen his abilities and knows how he would complete the jigsaw he's building now.
Dortmund let him go, so those very same people apparently didn't rate him highly. He had to move to a D3 team in Germany so BVB either let him go for free or for a nominal fee. Worth saying that I admire his energy and resilience, so I am def rooting for him!
Most of them didn't rate him at Dortmund but they're at other clubs now, meaning they have different needs and different budgets. It's about "how he would complete the jigsaw [they're] building now."
google has him as RCB in a back 4 he went 61 drew yellow in first half stoppage. The score was 2-1 against Heidenheim when he came off.
He’s out today against Stuttgart with a head injury. I’m not sure how bad it is https://www.ligainsider.de/lennard-...stuttgart-ohne-angeschlagenen-maloney-368069/
How valid this account is… who knows… but supposed interest from three Bundesliga clubs, PAOK and Birmingham City. Let’s hope he avoids Greece and League One. 🚨🇺🇸 Among the several clubs showing concrete interest in Lennard Maloney are PAOK and Birmingham City. If Birmingham were at the top of the Championship, their owners' deep pockets would make it worth having a look at their offer. Top of League One has to mean immediate rejection. I'd be interested in which BL sides are in play. That there's 3 of them is welcome news.
