1 - 0 win against Sporting today. Goal came from Roberto Souza in the 65th minute.

Leixões have a very solid starting 11. They also have decent alternatives up front. The midfield of Hugo Morias, Bruno China and Roberto Souza is solid, but they don't have much depth there. The D is holding up, and Beto in goal is superb.

Rio Ave 1 Leixões 2. Nine weeks in and Leixões will remain isolated on top. I love this! Is Queiroz paying attention?

Bruno China should be called to the Selecção National and should start as a defensive midfielder.

Beto should get a chance in goal.

Its great for Portuguese futebol if you ask me. Hopefully they can finish in the top 3.

I cannot comment on their player however, as I have only seen 1 game....

If Leixões is in 1st place, it's because they have some really good players. Queiroz should be paying attention!!!

From Mais Futebol regarding Bruno China's performance against Rio Ave in week 9.

Just saw the goal. Decently taken shot. I think a better goalie would have stopped it though. I cannot comment on his defensive qualities.

    And there goes Leixoes season...

If Leixoes sell him at this time, with the form they are in, it is terrible and incompetent management. I mean, he is the leading scorer in the league, and is one of the reason why Leixeos sit atop the standings...

Vitor Oliveira, the Leixões president, has consistently said even during this fabulous stretch, that the main objective of the club is "permanencia na primeira liga". Wesley is only on a one year deal, so if the team can get a decent sum for him, then they must consider it.

Bruna China and Braga are also getting interest, mostly from teams outside of Portugal.

I also wish they could keep the whole team together and see if they could take it all the way. That would be awesome. But the financial realities will always take precedence. It's a business.

So I guess a sale of their top players will transpire. But probably leave them fighting next year to remain in the first division.

That's the sad thing about Portuguese football. It's kinda like AAA baseball. If you're really good, you won't remain there for long.

Just read that the Benfica-Leixões Cup game will be broadcast on TVI. Maybe RTPi can work out a deal.

Here's the real reason why Benfica lost the Cup game to Leixões....

By the way, the most Portuguese team in our Liga is......you guessed it...

Leixoes is just having a good run, but it's good for the Lusitano pride too. :)

Is Udo Nwoko transfering to Qatar in the Winter window 2008-09? He should be given more time, but I guess Leixoes are having a good run, then why play him ???

Nwoko, a move to Qatar will unleash french clubs to hunt him for their teams later on!!

He can make things happen, am sure you all agree with me ;)

Nwoko had some good moments for Leixoes last year, but this year I think he started with an injury, and since the team has been playing so well, he's only been used very little.

He almost got transferred to a team in England last year, but that fell through. Not sure why. I have to think Leixoes would sell this man. He has value and he's not playing here.
