Well, what I especially like is that he's taken this whole practice of atheletes referring to themselves in the third person to a whole new level. He's an interview pioneer. I'm sure in the next few weeks we'll hear Shaquile O'Neal say something like this: "Self never doubted that we'd win another championship. Self always trusted that we'd get it done."

My swedish is pretty bad but i'll try to translate a bit later if i have some time, but i just wanted to mention that Norrkoeping is a just relagated team and have to be favorites to promote, so this is really an expected result.

    Hello people,

From what I've heard Leighton did a good match yesterday for us, and some people even said that was almost too good for our team :) He's showed some good stuff during his first trainings here and I think he's going to be an even better player if he get a few matches.

On wednesday we're playing at home and I will probaly try to give you a report on him performance after that match.

    He's both.

Born in Ireland, moved to America at some point before he graduated high school (he graduated high school in Washington State).

I don't know when he and his family came here.

Ok, first of all, everyone forgot that Luchi Gonzalez was playing in this game too, self thinks that this is bad to overlook him. :) Anyways, a bit of translation, any paragraph that mentions one of the yanks.

"In the first ten minutes of the next half Norrkoeping started to pick up the pace without creating any dangerous chances. Fredrik Tervaniemi picked up a knock in a challenge with Mikael Blomberg who picked up a warning. Leighton O’Brien made a wonderful debut after a long delay of matches and served many fine passes."

"In the 57th minute Luchi Gonzalez made a dangerous shot that the Norrköping keeper rescued for a corner" Though the site has him coming on in the 58th minute, strange.

"After finally becoming comfortable after a few matches Gonzalez had another good shot which forced Jankulovski into a fantastic save which he tipped out for a corner."

"Leighton O’Brien had an enourmously good first match and showed that he can handle a football. He should come to be of great use for Bodens for the rest of the season.

"Luchi Gonzalez had two dangerous "poisonious" shots which showed what he really can do"

" "Brolla" (I'm assuming coach, because he said "for us" )commented on how important Leighton O'Brein could be for the team in the future after the americans debut"

" "Brolla" also says that Luchi Gonzalez was on his way up and was doing well in training week in and week out"

    "Brolla" is Lars Svensson.

And apparently O'Brien picked up a yellow somewhere.

Ok, hope this helps a bit.

1-1 vs Häcken today, but Boden should have won.

Leighton showed some good stuff in the first half and made some fast freekicks which almost resulted in about 2 goals. In the 2nd half he wasn't as much involved in the game and became pretty much invisible.

Luchi got substituted in the second half and didn't show too much today.

Today Boden played vs a team named Forward and we finally got our first win of the season when we won 3-1.

Leighton had another good day and got an assist to the 2-1 goal. The 3-1 goal was scored in the last minute of by another ex-US player, Destin Makumbu.

Okay, good news, but I thought it was clear that ``self'' was dodging the ``prevalent season meal aspiration'' question, and I don't think that's a good idea for a young American.
    Great thread, btw.
You know, the original babelfish (in the books, never in reality) wasn't this confusing.

With this guy and Onandi Lowe and Onstad and Ching and Buddle and Testo and so on, I think the big untold story of the last few years in American soccer is the improvement in the quality of play in the A-League.

If you want to see Leighton O'Brien in action and are not to disappointed with the internets current inability to babelfish voice comments, there is a handy little real player clip at http://svt.se/content/1/c6/08/43/60/030518_boden_forward_hi.ram (450 kbit per second). Bodens BK in green, Leighton in the #49 shirt.

Quote from the commentator: "The giant of the field, Boden's Irishman Leighton O'Brien...".

The gentleman interviewed at the end is Boden's coach and asked about O'Brien he says "Fantastic footballer, makes great passes, reads the play really well..."

The first two teams in div 1 gets promoted to the Premier Division. The 3rd placed team gets to play a play-off vs the 12th team in the Premier Division.

But he did play in the A-league, with Milwaukee. He was last year's "Young Defensive Player of the Year"

Does anyone know if there matches are televised? Or do they have a site where you can order some gear of theres. I just heard that Lucci Gonzalez is on the team and so I guess I want to learn more about how the team does.
