So has WIllian turned a corner, or is this his "once every six months MOTM display". Guess we find out next time he is on.
Laporta, if elected president at Barcelona, reportedly wants Arteta as his new manager. Since they appear to be joined at the hip, maybe Arteta wants to take a solid rotational squad player with zero resale value with him when Barcelona come calling.
Hi everyone, nice to see that everyone is still active and talking about the game. I am writing a dissertation about the financial impacts of covid-19 in football and whether this has led to the exploitation of football fans. It is anonymous and will only take a few minutes. Thank you https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1...-QNavz5UTmNoun15Z-amzpwg/viewform?usp=sf_link
For those of you like me wondering why Martinelli still didn't see the pitch in this one, today's AV Podcast had Elliot interviewing sports injury specialist Dr. Rajpal Brar. Brar said he was really surprised how quickly Martinelli came back to the first team in late 2020 after his long recovery, and that Martinelli's ankle injury in warm-ups before Newcastle is a pretty strong sign he was brought back to soon. So the theory is that the team is likely trying to not rush him back too quickly.
I really like Arteta. Maybe like him more for who he is vs his results. That said, I honestly wouldn't be terribly upset if Barca stole him away as long as we signed a decent replacement. Preferably someone with some success atleast at a lower level and with a strong offensive scheme. And if he took Luiz & Willian with him I wouldn't shed a tear at all.
I think losing Arteta would be a blessing in disguise. I don't think he's good at player selection or management.
Just listening to AV podcast and Clive agreed with me that Neny should've slid over. He also guessed that he couldn't be bothered to sprint. The last time I watched this replay I had a similar impression. But I kinda gave Mo the benefit of the doubt, because it looked like he thought Granit could catch up to Tielemans. But that's actually a crazy thought, given Granit's general lack of pace. But then again Mo is more tortoise than hare, so he probably knew he wasn't gonna be able to intersect with Tielemans. So Clive is probably right... he just couldn't really be arsed to try too hard.
i mean, on the one side, you have a dude in elneny who, if he took a less idiotic route (instead of that indecisive start-and-stop drunken path he actually took) PROBABLY might have been able to intersect with tielemans at just about the 6 yard box. and on the other side, you have mari who IF. YOU. COULD. PLEASE. JUST. STOP. RUNNING. AWAY. could have picked up tielemans and stopped his run by the 18. but, sure, it's totes elneny's fault. oh, yeah. and xhaka. obviously, xhaka. always xhaka. oh, wait. here's a wink so you can legally not be allowed to be upset at anything i said: . PS - fucking ozil. PPS - goddamned chambers. PPPS - insurance wink.
I was listening to arsenal podcasts to judge the mood and people were blaming Mozzer as the bad apple in the dressing room? Wut?
Pep had less managerial experience (a year managing Barcelona B) when Laporta hired him, maybe he’s hoping lightning will strike twice.
Here's Adrian Clarke's latest Breakdown, pandemic hair and all https://www.arsenal.com/news/analysing-controlled-and-commanding-victory It's a pretty fun watch. And at the end he gives Pepe his MOTM, with Xhaka & Willian just behind. I did notice Pepe's contributions at the time, but I have to say watching these clips made me realize I didn't quite see live, all of the great stuff that Willian produced. I guess I still have to shake off the negative filter for him. And I'm happy to do so, if he can keep playing like that!
He never played for the first team, just the academy. I didn't know that he started life there. Still, it's a big risk for Barca and it's only of Coeman leaves in the summer.
I don’t know why Arteta would take that job. Arsenal are flawed and have issues, but Barca are a tire fire right now. Pep crossed with Arrigo Sacchi would fail there right now.
you are correct, he did not. he had terrible timing as they had some other guy a few years older coming into the midfield at the time. i can't rightly recall his name - something with an x - but apparently he can kick the ball around a tad. one francesc fabregas soler ALSO "never played for the first team, just the academy" and he sure as heck apparently had "barca DNA".
