Leicester City v. Liverpool [R]

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by RedKnight, Mar 26, 2004.

  1. The first of "nine Cup finals."

Despite going off in the OM match, Owen will probably be fit:

    http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N144355040326-1316.htm

    ......................Dudek

    ..Carragher--Henchoz--Hyypia--Riise

    ..Murphy--Hamann--Gerrard--Kewell

    .................Owen--Heskey

    Subs:

    Luzi
    Traore
    Diouf
    Cheyrou
    Baros

We need to win. Really profound, eh?

Hopefully Murphy will be rested for this game - his passing of late has been shite at best.

Diouf surely deseres a place in the XI - to give width, protect the RB and give a decent attacking option that can find a man in the same colour shirt

Moving on, I like that RedKnight, no good dwelling on what might have been.

    AAAAAaaaaaaaaggggggH...!!!

    That's better!

The line up looks good, Just need Emile to get another and Mikey to do his thing.

    Owen is a major doubt

Houllier is already saying he is unavailable for the England friendly next week.

Looks like we may see Baros and Heskey up front. As I just dumped Owen from my fantasy team we'll see him start and bag a hattrick!

I wouldn't complain if he did

We're getting close to page 2, so someone get ready to post the Atkinson picture, we didn't in the last match and look what happened.

Agreed. I'd like to see Diouf for Murphy, and assuming Owen's out and Baros is in the XI, I suppose FSP is on the bench. Other than that, the lineup looks good.

You didn't specify Biscan's role though. Clearly he'll be doing a Bart Simpson on the locker room chalkboard for 90 minutes - "I will not get sent off in big matches. I will not get sent of fin big matches. I will not . . ."

  6. If I was wrong about Owen's fitness, then yes, Baros of course, and FSP at the ready. I'm not sold on Diouf over Murphy the way everyone else is, but from what I have been able to tell, Spud may have earned himself a time-out after yesterday.

Didn't think I had to, but you've got the right idea . . . let's specify that it's a chalkboard all the way back at Melwood, just to be safe.

Look--he even got that wrong! :)

Agreed, still.... Must. Resist. Urge. To Post "[result] fuck off you goat-fellating frogs[/result] on the OM thread.

Bummer about Owen not being fit. Good that he's sitting out the England friendly, too, though I wouldn't mind Kopite's fantasy-busting scenario coming true.

The official site says Owen will be fit but I'd rest him any way. I think Diouf has hit the bottom of the sh1t list and won't see the light of day for some while. Cheyrou is more likely to play, and with that the option, I'll take Spuds.
FSP should play in Mikie's place and save Baros for the end instead of the other way around but I can live with either. Have to get three!

I don't think I would start Cheyrou over Diouf. I've gotta be honest, I really don't like Diouf as a player, but he came on as a sub in the Wolves game and really did well for the 30 minutes he was in. But maybe that's what we should use him for, if anything, just to come on as a sub. I just really really do not like having Cheyrou in the lineup, just a personal opinion.

Traore, Cheyrou, and Baros in the squad today. I think Riise should have stayed in, and try Traore out in the central defense in place of Biscan.

    Walker saves from Baros

No comment necessary for my previous post

My apologies to those with weak hearts!

Heskey wins a free kick on the edge of the box

Gerrard hits it into the wall.

Houllier has to be restrained after a poor decision on Baros!

    Baros causing problems for Leicester.

Poor pass by Kewell stops next Reds attack.

BTW I expect a ton of reputation points for my Atkinson post.

Gerrard playing very well again. Hunter criticizing Cheyrou

Didi fouled by Dickov, easy joke ignored
