lol..i really dont care about all this jabber about who's better and who's done what..i just know that your group isnt what you say they are..i recall the "Quite Squad" wearing sombreros last year for a clasico ..that was racist and of poor taste in alot of people's views..dont know why you would stand for that if you are of mexican desent..im sure some of you are parents, not a constructive thing to teach your kids :(..btw: im not an ignorant fan..i have fun and im responsible at games with my group :D

i am done with this topic as you proved the only point i wanted to make . . . what you say is non-sense, as people wearing sombreros is not racist. poor taste maybe, but since when is poor taste racist? you are just one of chivas types that thinks it ok to say things about other folks, but god forbid anyone make a crack about your chivas.

just to clarify, i am not mexican . . . my family is from texas / oklahoma. my wife is from mexico, children are obviously mixed. i lived in mexico for several years and spend quite a lot of time there now (as i have a house on the border). and just to further clarify, i think it is a good thing to teach my kids to have fun joking around with people and realize that is all it is.

i really find it interesting that you think LARS is racist considering probably 1/3 of the guys wearing sombreros were of mexican decent. if LARS was really racists you would find a better example supporting this (chants, violence, etc). btw, care to translate some of the spanish chants that la legion uses? i am sure it wouldn't take long to find a racist or homophobic example. btw, is it a great example for your kids to teach them to yell '********' every time the opposing goalie kicks the ball?

as was stated previously, i am done with this topic because my point has been made. those that want to keep their heads in the sand, go right ahead.

Just want to say that you're welcome on these boards any time. You're one of the few visiting Gals posters that is respectful and actually makes good points. I agree with almost everything you say on this thread as well.

lol..im sure your a cool dude..but you contradict yourself alot..what does wearing sombreros have to do with chivas usa ? and if it was done in poor taste then why would you do it? your doing exactly what you say your against ..which is ignorance in soccer ..
i never called your group racist..quiet? yes!, racist? no..but the sombrero thang was borderline racist and ignorant..
i do agree with you on one thing, which is finding a racist LARS chant..do you guys even chant? its usually pretty silent over there in your side..lol
and im not from LK..not homophobic..and would never yell out *uto :)

    peace homie~!~

"What does wearing sombreros have to do with Chivas USA?"

Nothing. It wasn't about Chivas USA, it was about Galaxy. If you read the posts from the LARS after Legion attacked them in the parking lot (I saw what happened out in lot 13) you'd understand that the guy who came up with the idea is mexican.

I don't understand how you can possibly say that something like that justifies violence. There's a reason why the Chivas FO (not Galaxy or the HDC) adopted a zero-tolerance policy toward violence. There's also a reason why the first thing that happened once the policy was implemented was the suspension of Legion members.

I think your input is as valuable as everybody else's, but can you please stop trying to use red herrings to a) change the subject of the conversation, and b) use other supporter groups (who have been around for far longer without major incidents) to justify acts of violence and poor overall conduct from Legion.

If it was or was not racist, it all depends on who you ask or how each person interprets something. What you might feel is racist might not feel racist to someone else and vice versa. It really does not matter who thought of it, mexican, salvadorean, white, black, whatever. The point being that if I know that by doing something like that will heat things up even more, why do it. LARS had already been "attacked" so the person said, "Let's put on sombreros and get Pinatas and really piss them off!" right? What was done by LARS does not justify any violence, but why do something that might cause it. Before LARS did that I bet it had to go through at least one of the member's heads that it would piss someone off or that it could cause more trouble. Nothing justifies violence, but people also need to get their heads out of their asses and stop thinking that everyone else thinks the same way they do, because they don't.

I still don't understand the "nothing justifies violence, but you better watch what you say because it might justify violence against you" logic. If "nothing justifies violence" then it should be condemned 100% of the time.

From what I've seen Legion is worried about every single move that the LARS does while LARS is concerned about what's taking place on the pitch. LARS' gimmicks, ridiculous as they may be, are targetted at the teams and players on the pitch. Legion is more worried about what LARS does or doesn't do.

You see the key word you used was "should." Just in case you didn't notice, LIFE IS NOT FAIR. Nothing is "condemned" 100% of the time so get that in your head. I guess you will never understand that logic. PEOPLE DON"T REACT THE SAME TO ALL SITUATIONS. While one person might not be violent towards you for insulting them, another one might. Does it justify the violent act? NO it does not, but guess what, it still happened.

Now that you mentioned LARS targetting the teams and players on the pitch: In the Columbus vs New England match, the people yelling the racial slurs and throwing shit were also only targeting the team and the players on the pitch. Just because the gimmicks target the teams and the players on the pitch, it does not make them right.

Has this thread solved anything? NO! On the contrary, its made things worse. It's absolutely ridiculous that the people posting are grown men. I've sat with both the Legion and the Union Ultras and think Chivas USA needs both supporter groups. No one is better than the other. The passion is there and thats all that matters. Both groups are there for one reason and one reason only. CHIVAS USA!! Doesn't matter who was there first or who has more people. I've been there since 2005 and I don't consider myself more of a fan because of that. Everyone needs to get off the high horse they put them selves on and move on. Seriously!! You want to be animals, so be it. But leave that crap at home and stop ruinning the atmosphere at the HDC. Many TV station have made comments about how Chivas USA has some of the best fans because win or loose, they're there. Well, apperantly not anymore. I guess one man's hurt ego matters more than the 11 stripped shirts on the field. Shamefull isn't?
Is the name calling really helping the situation? Do we need to call the Galaxy fan a racist? Maybe he himself, isn't or he hasn't seen what others have, or experienced. I myself have been at the other end of many Galaxy members racist comments. But a few ignorant people, do not make the group. If you don't want to be judged, don't judge. The Galaxy fan has a right to post his opinion. That's all this is, our opinions. That's what's so great about this forum. You may not like what I say and I really don't care. I just wanted to give my opinion.

    GO CHIVAS USA!!!!

agreed. thats the point im trying to make aswell. some of us need to quit preaching that they or theyre group are "holier than thou", several people have made mistakes at the games..the point is to assure that they dont repeat themselves..i love having fun at the HDC..i dont care what team they root for just dont ruin it for everybody else:)

i know i said i would leave this thread, but let me violate that just for one clarification. first, i don't think anyone or any group is perfect. as a man that boozes, the first thing i will recognize is things happen. but that being said, i am not so much against things happening, as i am against people trying to justify them after the fact.

as a gabacho with heavy mexican ties, believe me i hear pleanty of racial remarks that bother me (towards white folks and latinos), but i look past them. usually they can be written off to ignorance, alcohol, or a combination of the both. truth, it just makes me feel sorry for the people that spew that kind of crap. but, what i don't understand or tolerate is someone making excuses. am i a saint? hell no. ami i perfect, hell no. but i will tell you this, when i do ******** up, i am man enough to say it is my bad and move on.

if i was hateful and judgemental, i would have took out a few of the legion guys that were in front of me that night. i didn't, you know why? because i am not a hypocrit. but i will be honest, i did expect to at least hear something like "you know what, we misunderstood x, y and z and that is why we acted that way." guess what, i never heard that . . . all i heard was "you are racist and got what you deserved"

that my friend is BS and with these comments i am truly out of this thread. as stated previously, i really hope that someday people grow this rivaly where we can talk trash to each other without coming to blows, because that is what makes a rivalry fun.

btw, i didn't wear a sombrero. like i said .. . i thought it was in bad taste, but that doesn't make it racist.

    TROOPER, AS I SAID BEFORE.

WHEN THE LEGION DECIDES TO MAKE A STATEMENT, NOBODY WILL STOP THEM. THEY WILL NOT WASTE A CHANCE TO GIVE EL "CUAU" A PIECE OF THEIR MIND, SPECIALLY IF THE MONUMENTAL IS AT THE GAME, AND TRUST ME, BOTH SUPPORT GROUPS WILL BE THERE.

Its a short hop from being great supporters to mindless yobs. I've seen it in the UK and you don't want your fans to ge tthat kind of reputation.

Its a downward spiral from there.

The best fans are those that are the noisiest but understand that there's a line you don't cross.

Reel these guys in before someone gets hurt. If they leave a ground just because one of their own gets thrown out then they are not true fans. True fans support the club through the good times and the bad and more importantly police their own to ensure no trouble arises.

You don't want to end up with a reputation like the Italian Ultras.

P.S - my club is Aston Villa FC of the English premier league. Can we have Brad Guzan now please.
