¿Where's the love for the UEFA Cup? Clash between a sub-top team from the Netherlands, against the champion of Poland who didn't make it to the Champion's League because Barcelona happened to be in their way. Van Gaal by the way, has informed the FC Utrecht coach on what to look out for with this Polish team...so we'll see what good that will do in just a few minutes. As in now....game begins
Whoa, the Polish coach looks just like the principal from Buffy the Vampire slayer...you know, that guy that was killed by the season finale monster in the 2nd or 3r season. Yes, nothing spectacular has happened yet, apart from some Polish guy coming in a little too violently into Wapenaar, Fc Utrecht's goalie.
Almost the 10th minute of the game: no good chances created yet by either team, but the good thing is that FC Utrecht can be found on the opposing team's side quite a lot.
Too bad, the inside pass was a little hard for Gluscevic, or he could have gone 1 on 1 against the Polish goalie. Doesn't seem to be a clear better team so far, pretty even match up.
20th minute First real chance for Legia, and howdy ho goal: Legia Warschau - FC Utrecht 1-0 Resulting from a cheap free kick, passed the ball to the attacker who heads it in.
How the hell did that happen? Legia Warschau - FC Utrecht 2-0 Mistake by the defender gives the Polish a throw-in near to the goal, fast passing does the rest, things not looking good for the people in Utrecht. Hopefully they can keep the damage to a minimum over here so they might still rectify this at home.
Ai! So close...they should have given bigger shoes to the Fc Utrecht attackers so one of those 2 players could have kicked in that cross from the side. A toe-length away from the 1st goal that was. But a defender clears the ball away, corner results in nothing.
Funny Ball possession was 51% for Legia and 49 for Utrecht, and between that time and the next update of ball possession Utrecht had the ball the entire time, yet: Legia 54%, Utrecht 46%. Florida like practices going on here I says! Utrecht seem to be growing in the game a little in the 39th minute, and as I say this Legia gets a free kick close to the Utrecht goal: Touzani gets yellow for the foul... the free kick results in a corner... the corner results in nothing.
Can't we all just get along? Two players get into a scuffle after an almost good scoring chance for Legia..the other players feel like showing their machismo as well...the ref shows he's more macho than all of them combined and cools the players down. Yellow card for each of the two players who started it all. And there's the half time which couldn't have come at a better time for some players on the field it seems, I suggest a cold shower.
Half time show I think we might see former Ajax player vd Bergh sometime in the 2nd half, because the Utrecht offense clearly isn't working at the moment. Kuyt and Gluscovic have totally no assistance at all from the midfield, and the fact that Vreven is playing with pain-killers (i.e. slightly injured) doesn't help either since you don't see him running up the field to give those dangerous crosses either. 2nd half begins....
Van Mol with the rush towards the goal, crosses the ball hard into the goal area to see what might happen, and what might happen is Kuyt kicking it in Legia Warschau - FC Utrecht 2-1
Corner kick for Warschau who want to change the score more to their favour, defenders do their work and clear the ball.
Goddammit! Legia Warschau - FC Utrecht 3-1 Own goal by an Utrecht defender....he got the ball against him when the goalie blocked a shot from Legia, into the goal it went.
Good save by Wapenaar, great passing by Warschau made it possible for one of their players to go 1 on 1 against him, he came out on top this time.
70th minute Legia Warschau - FC Utrecht 4-1 A free kick gets passed to a Polish head, Polish head heads the ball into the goal, 4-1 appears on the scoreboard.
What a dumbass... Vreven pushes down a Legia player for a ball he wouldn't even have reached in time..and gets his 2nd yellow card....that's red. 10 against 11 now. Van den Bergh comes in for Gluscevic around the 79th minute.
Game over Legia Warschau - FC Utrecht 4-1 Not an impossible task to score 3 goals at home next week and still make it to the 2nd round, but it looks almost impossible.
Too bad that both Utrecht and Heerenveen are having a bad start of the season. Last season's Heerenveen should have had no problems with Nacional B. Legia is a much stronger team, but FC Utrecht should have played much more concentrated. I don't see them winning 3-0 at home. 2-0 maybe... 3-0.... I don't think so.
